Needed: Bunkhouse advice

We currently have a x23b and really enjoy it. However, on those days when it's pouring out, or for long trips, five people and our big dog make it a bit cramped inside. So far, none of the kids have asked to bring a friend, but we know that day will be here soon. Therefore, we are toying (just thinking about) getting a bunkhouse.

Question: Does anyone have advice, or ideas, as to a lightweight bunkhouse with 3-4 beds in back? Our TV is Ford 150. We love Jayco because they are green built and does not have that "smell" inside that I just can't handle.

By the way, we know we can put a couple of the kids in a tent next to the hybrid, but some sites can be a tight fit for trailer, truck, picnic table, and fire pit as it is without a tent pitched nearby.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions of lightweight bunkhouse trailers!

We were looking at a X23B to upgrade from our smaller hybrid but ended up with a Jayco whitehawk 28DSBH. It has 2 Full size bunks in back. The layout is great and inside materials are nice. Its dry weight listed on the door is 5710lbs. We also have a 2008 F150. We're picking it up this Friday. I see your in the northeast, we purchased it from Forrest Marine in Tyngsboro MA. Great dealer, and they have a good selection of Jayco models for a smaller dealership.

We also have the 28DSBH purchased from Forest Marine. Just came back from Hersey Park lady week. Towed great with our F150.

Back in 07 we bought our 30U. It is a 4 bunk bunkhouse. The wife wanted a bunkhouse model and she liked it the best. We have 3 kids (one is out on his own now) and the thought was extra bunk for friend. Now with the oldest out they can bring 2. It was also handy having the 4th bunk as the Wife turns it into a pantry for the longer trips.
It has also been nice when we are out in bad weather, 1 or 2 of them will clime on their bunk and read or watch a movie.
But when it is time to dump....I mean the other 2 move out, we will be looking to move to a new trailer that has the big windows and easy chairs instead of a bunkhouse. Grand kids can sleep on the hide a bed or dinette.

We also have a '14 28dsbh. I think anything larger will be too much for the F150. Our yellow sticker is 5,943. That is with the 15k AC, and electric everything. I do not know what the tongue weight is, but I wouldn't tow anything heavier. I am towing with a '12 Tundra with the 5.7, tow package, 4.30 gears, and a 4pt Equalizer hitch. It tows just fine, even going 60 mph on the interstates and semis blowing by at 80 mph. My brother in law is towing a KZ Spree with a '11 F150 that has the "back room", is 5' longer, and 1k heavier. He does not enjoy towing it at all. According to him, every time he tows the thing he has at least one scary moment, and semis are blowing him around on the highway like a balloon in the wind. It's not a safe set-up.

Thats good to hear. I'm moving up from a small hybrid so it's a big change for me towing.

I also upgraded from a hybrid bought from them as well, the X23J. with the wide axles I feel the whitehawk tows better.
