Never been so glad to have an RV

Well after living in our FW for over a year waiting on our new house looks like we will be doing it again. After 4 short months living in our home we headed to our camp in Keene for the summer. Now heading to Mexico Beach to see if anything survived. What a way to start out our retirements. What next!!!

Keeping fingers crossed for you. It was amazing to see all the destruction and then see a newly constructed home still standing among all that debris. Hoping your new home was one of those.

God Speed.

Sorry to hear that. All that matters is you and your family are safe and unhurt. Stuff can be replaced. Loved ones cannot.

Hope all is well if not fairly well. From what I heard about the new building codes you may not be too bad off.

Good luck.

Wishing you the best of luck. CBS news featured that beach front house that stood on the news tonight. They built it to withstand 250 mph winds. It's all reinforced concrete even though it doesn't look it.

Sorry to hear about this hardship but as you said, at least you have a place that is your own to live in while you get your house back in order. Let us know how you fared when you get to your home in Mexico Beach.

Rock, we understand your situation totally. We live to the east of you in Eastpoint, Fl. Our home was built to the new hurricane standards and from what I’m hearing did ok. We can’t return home until Thursday.
With any luck your home did alright. Luckily for you and your family you are all ok.
Our coach was in RV Connections in Panama City for a minor repair and as of now we have no idea what has happened to it. But that can be replaced.
Our thoughts and hope are with you. Take care and good luck, Jimmyd

I rode out Michael in our 5th wheeler in Millidgeville, GA. It was only a category 1 at that time. Rode well. Only problem was slide toppers flapping. I thought they would get ripped off but they all survived. No water leaks from torrential rain even. Back home in Vienna, just north of Cordele, GA everyone is not so lucky. Folks still without power and massive cleanup to be done. Nothing like the panhandle and Mexico Beach. We are fortunate. I was without power for several days and cancelled my next trip, but that is small potatoes!

Sorry to hear. At least you weren't in it. We were in Alabama on our way back from tbe keys when a whole bunch of tornados hit. We were lucky to be just missed except for all the debris that trashed the park.

Update,
Found out two days ago we still have a home. My neighbor sent me pics of the damage. My home has two holes thru the side from impact damage, half the shingles missing, about 1/4 of the siding and stair railings gone, Rv pole barn gone, all trees and fencing gone, my work shop shed is still there but now on the ground and not on blocks, property covered with debris, Boat was tied under my stilt home and still there, car beat up and busted windows, under stilt home it was enclosed with 2x12 slats whick one section between concrete pilings is gone, good thing I did that. Heading back now and am in Fort Chiswill VA. We feel grateful we still have a house with stuff still in it.
Will post again when I have time after getting back. Stinks that the closest RV park I could find is 2.5 hours away and only for three weeks. I wish all the damn snow birds would stay away since all parks are full

Hey Rock check the road conditions getting to Mexico Beach. From what we are hearing a lot of the roads are still impassable. We are hoping to drive back to Eastpoint, Fl. tomorrow. As far as the campgrounds go most are full with folks who evacuated with whatever they could. We gave up our cottages twice at Sunset King Lake RV Park northwest of DeFuniak Springs to families who lost their homes. When we drove to the closest Walmart for supplies the entire perimeter of the parking lot was filled with folks living in their campers. Very sad situation when they have lost everything. Hope you get home safely. Jimmyd

Not sure what part you moved to but
Guess you moved in the right direction away from the flooding. Texas is getting hammered. Stay safe.

Seen house yesterday. From Tyndall AFB to Mexico Beach looks like after a nuke attack. Pole barn totally destroyed. Water in every room but windows are not broke. Think wind drove in rain around windows. Whatever went thru my wall knocked refrigerator over into kitchen island and blocks side door.
