Thumbs down New 2019 Melbourne Prestege (Poor Quality)

Be warned if you order a new RV from Jayco inspected it thoroughly. I received my 2019 model and from the surface it looked great. After getting it home I found several cover ups from the Factory. My ceiling was punctured and was filled with a repair kit. A had 2 large scuffs on the body paint where they clear coated right over it making it blend in with the shine. Seat and door skins had large scratches, Panels where cracked, nail pops not properly filled and protrude. Chips thru out the interior. Leans cover cracked, Drops of glue on the flooring, Seals missing with exposed insulation, Blinds damaged, Entry door off alignment and slowly damaging the trim and so many other little things indicating a QA department wasn't used. I bought new and the top quality expecting that and was very disappointed with this quality. My fear is the mechanical issues will come up next once I start to drive it. I haven't moved it as trying to address these issues with Jayco. My only response was a Nov service appointment at the factory. Local dealerships and others wont service it as I purchased it from a wholesale club. I guess you may read this as me venting and thats fine but someone may read this and remember it in the future. Jayco claims there all about quality and taking care of their customers. I have forwarded my pictures with all describe and not much care was in response.

Never vent with an attitude to either a dealer or Jayco. Believe me it get you nowhere.
Be kind and do follow up calls. RV's aren't made to the highest standards of what we expect. Any manufacturer relies on the honesty of their employees and also the standard of the quality work. Always inform yourself before you buy and also inspect the product thoroughly before you present the final payment.

I agree but with this deal I was dropped off with a 6 hour drive home on a Friday afternoon where most people were gone. I knew I was in trouble when I had to put my own temp plate on with a dime. I recently contacted the BBB and was contacted the next day from the seller looking for a solution. I felt bad because he just ordered it and the problem was with the assemble in the jayco factory. I didn't expect a perfect and flawless RV but spending 100K I didn't expect this many cosmetic issues.

Seems the biggest problem is the demand for RV's and finding skilled workers who have pride in their work. And the manufacturers attitude is probably we will deal with it later.
I had a few problems over the years but solved them myself. Dealing with warranty is also a big hassle nowadays. Hope you'll get things before not to long. A person has an RV for use, not to be in a shop for repairs.

This just reiterates why you should buy local. You need time to go over everything before taking it home. With all the issues you mentioned the dealer should not have delivered it to you until all was corrected.

I agree and took my quote to every dealer with in 3 hours from me and they couldn't even come close to this price. New from the factory still should be a new quality build. So I went 2 hours farther with Colerain Family RV in Delaware Ohio. So I'm assuming the dealership should of Re painted the entire side of the motorhome, replaced the entire headliner and paneling, changed out the door liner and the seat. I be leave this unit could of been a demo where people walked thru as it has so much wear and tear already. So when I do get this in for repairs I'm curious what they will honor. This is why its been sitting in my driveway from day 1 waiting to drive back to the Jayco factory as I received it. But that will never happen as they already cashed the check.

Did you have any kind of a inspection. That stuff should have been caught during it.

I payed for the dealership to do an inspection and I had the Friday afternoon rush job demo. Like a said from the surface it looked great. Until I crawled up on the over cab bed and under the dinette and so on. I know I'm at fault not going thru it thoroughly but this is reason for this post. Live and learn from others mistakes..

Tough to accept on a $10K TT, extremely tough to accept on a $100K rig. I think we all know that any impulse to rush through an inspection has to be squashed because in the long run it very likely leads to more frustration than delaying taking ownership of the rig until everything is right. If it's one or two minor things, I can see dealing with it later but if it's an accumulation of things that's going to take much of the pleasure out of using the rig delay acceptance and payment until things are made right.

I expect the factory to do a serious job of QC with the dealer being a second set of eyes finding the things the factory misses. Unless the dealer is just an order taker they are being paid to provide a service to the buyer, part of that service is preventing the buyer from having to deal with stuff that was missed by the factory, making the unit as close to perfect as possible. It's obvious that didn't happen here.
