New camper smell

My camper has this odor since I purchased it three years ago. I call it the new camper smell. Unfortunately it is not as pleasant as the new car smell. I can smell in the clothes and linens when we bring home to wash. Am I unique to this phenomena? I try to cover it with Sency smells and various odor eaters to no avail. Has anybody else have this issue?

Yes, but not for that long. I would suggest leaving a vent open during storage and while driving to any destination (assuming you have vent covers). Also, try leaving the windows open as much as possible when camping and run the ceiling fan.

That's unfortunate because mine has a new camper smell too, not a bad thing in my case just different. I was actually happy to smell it when I walked in for the first time this year. Familiar, fun, reminiscent of good times had and good times coming!

Same here. Bought a 305RLS new in 2007. Just like you, in clothes, bedding and anything else we kept in there. Smell exactly the same when I traded it in last October. Bought a 29MV and now a "new" new camper smell.

When I winterized in the fall I put about 15 little golf ball size packets of cloves wrapped in cheesecloth along with dryer sheets to deodorize and keep rodents out. The cloves have a pleasant smell that stays all season and to date for 38 years, no rodents. Whenever I smell the cloves it congers up rv memories and thoughts of the season to come. You can smell the cloves in the room that we store any items that come in for the winter. I even put the packets in the storage areas underneath.

With the MaxxAir vent covers, we never close the vents. When traveling, the air is constantly circulating, and when parked, the hot air rises, and goes out the vents.

Works very well to get rid of the new camper smell.

I am big with smells. Last season was the first season I REFUSED to use moth balls. it takes WEEKS to get that smell out. I used to go crazy getting out the smell and suggest the below. If this works for moth balls it should help with the New Camper smell

~Fabreeze all couches, beds, curtains, ANY fabric. do this many times over the next week or two. I say use 2 full bottles min.
~Lemon Pledge all wood and fake wood surfaces.
~Bleach all sinks, toilets and shower.
~Use carpet fresh powder on the carpets.
~Lemon or strong scented pine sol or another floor cleaner. Stronger the smell the better.
~Plug Ins at least 2 I say 4 for at least a month. When I am using the camper I will take some out for a while as the smell can get strong. But as soon as I leave they go back in. (If you keep power to the camper)
~Dryer sheets on the intake of the AC unit in the kitchen. Then the smell will go trough all the vents in the camper. You can even let a sheet or two hang out of each vent.
~Scented Candles
~Last but not least COOK!! Baking cookies or frying something up on the stove might help too.

I know it sounds like a lot but if you do them all I am sure in a few weeks time it will subside at least 85%!
