New Florida Residents for FT RV

Woohoo
So today we got together all of our Escapees paperwork and documentation and drove from our current site in GA to Florida and got our Fl Drivers Licenses, Voter Registration and vehicle tags! We will relocate our rig there in October after I leave my job in a couple of weeks. Then we roam from there after winter.

I have to say that the folks in Sumter County (Ocala area) were extremely efficient and courteous, taking us right in with no waiting (It's still prior to snowbird season) and even gave us good advice about declaring vehicle weights and other registration options. They see Escapee people all the time and knew what we were up to.

Lots of license plate themes in FLA, so we figured for a bad-a$$ 4 1/2 ton long bed DRW F-350, what better than a puppy and kitten!!

(we have 4 dogs and 4 cats- all rescues)

I remember Clermont when hwy 50 and or 27 was lined with miles of orange trees. In the spring you'd roll your windows down to take in the smell of the orange blossoms. Last time I took that drive I don't recall seeing an orange tree at all, lot of houses tho.

There are still a few Orchards between 50 and 192, but they are few and far between. Still several Blueberry farms too.

We have a place in Venice and spend as much time there as in Illinois and thinking about changing to Florida residents. Why? Because they are now taxing all retirement income and no breaks for Seniors. It looks like Florida gives both no tax on income and real estate tax breaks for seniors.

Only holdup is how much it would cost. Could you give us an idea, licences, title transfer, plates and registration fees. Anything missed in that list??

St Brendan’s Isle does a great job for us in Florida. We have used them for years. Establish Florida Residency and so much more.
