Do an absolutely thorough PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection) BEFORE you sign anything or pay for anything. Make sure that the unit is to your satisfaction before any money changes hands or you take delivery.

Make sure the wheel bearings are well greased! Lots of bearing failures lately. Go thru it with a fine comb even if it takes hours. Make sure everything works. Do not take ownership of trip till everything is fixed. Good luck

X2 on what Moonlight said. Your PDI is the right time to identify and have repaired while at the dealer. The finance counselor, and dealer manager is still involved in the sale. Never listen to the sales person on PDI, he is normally just sales not service. As in with autos the "warranty department" has one or two personnel well versed in new models the rest of the warranty dept. are helpers only.

The dealership charges you for predelivery prep. You are entitled to their findings and their action on what was corrected.

Understand that the PDI is not take ownership day. Plan for it. Take ownership the next week. Their will be items you find that will need to be corrected. Service works on a schedule and fitting the repairs will need a couple of days.

Good luck !!!

Once I found the trailer I wanted I shopped out of the area. I saved thousands of dollars compared to my local dealer. The downside was waiting for them to fix a few blemishes and driving home without my hitch set perfectly. Ideally I’d have gotten a room and stayed the night.

New trailer

Find the best price you can online, and be ready to walk(and head to that dealer) if your local dealer won’t match it. You should be able to get 25-35% off MSRP depending on a couple factors. It’ll be more off on the older model year. Eg 2020s are on lots, and new 2019s will have better markdowns. There is more wiggle room on a higher optioned unit. The MSRP might look thousands higher, but once the haggling is done the price might be only $1000-1500 higher.
Be exhaustive on your walkthrough/PDI. You are paying for it, so don’t let them rush you. Plan to take at least 2 hours to complete it. This will be your unit, and you will have to deal with getting a service appointment and lost time. In my experience, the best you can hope for is less crappy from a service department.
This is my working list. Every RV will have different options, so you choose the things that are equipped for the unit you are purchasing.

Pop up roof operation
Every electrical outlet
All doorknobs/hinges
All cabinetry doors/drawers
All faucets
Slide operation
Hybrid bed operation
TV/stereo function
All lights
All windows
Oven/burners
Microwave
Air conditioners
Furnace
Fridge propane and electric
Generator
Water pump
Dump valves operate freely and don’t leak
Blind/shade operation
Tight valences
Running lights operate
Battery cutoff
Baggage doors
Exterior shower
Solar is working/charging
Jack operation
Stabilizer/leveler operation
Fuel station
Roof
Working gauges(Tank levels, generator controls, fuel levels, etc)
Keys work in all locks
Ramp door operation
Garage bed movement
Outdoor kitchen operation
Sofa bed conversion
Vents/fans
Outdoor shower
Interior/exterior scuffing/dents/scratches
Backup/observation camera

X2 on 25% minimum discount off list, could easily be 35% off. Just walk away if you’re not seeing a big discount. Other dealers would love to have your business and will discount. They will still make plenty of money on the sale.

The only disadvantage to buying farther away from home is the dealer you buy from MAY give you priority for repairs.

Check the reputation of the dealer you're looking to buy from. Online reviews...look at, but take with a grain of salt. Anyone you know that's bought from them in the past, what kind of experience they had with them on the purchase, and service performed if any.
A great price from a lousy dealer is a headache waiting to happen.
