Nice Memorial Day weekend...
Spent six days camping at a local Michigan State Park during the Memorial Day weekend...., and had a nice large site with a great view out my rear living room window.
Departing mid next week to Shipshewana, Indiana, for another long camping weekend.

Makes me even more eager for two weeks to go by FAST! One month on the road! Have fun in Shipshewana! We still have some peppers (spice) left over from our trip through there the year we picked up our tt!

Have to agree on this one, I do like my manual awning. We have 4 Jayco's in our family, two electric and two manual. The manual wins over the electric if the topic comes up at our campfire "chats".

Pontiac Lake State Park located in Waterford, about 6 miles north of M-59. A nice clean State Park with plenty of large sites with paved pads/streets.

Pontiac Lake isn't right at the campgrounds. A short drive (couple of miles) will get you to the beach and picnic area. There is a large sandy beach area (shown in pic) and shaded picnic grounds. The lake is clean, great swimming temp, and also has a public boat ramp.
If you are into bicycling, there are plenty of trails around the outer campgrounds and into the Pontiac Lake recreation area. One trail through the woods (around a mile long) takes you directly to the beach area.

If I could do it again, I would have accepted the $200 credit to have the elec flat pitch left off on our order and spent the additional $500 to have the manual put on. Over the long Memorial Day weekend, we didn't have it out once because there was just enough wind. Oh well, got to camp!

I guess some things are better off being manual. Although I understand some of the newer power awnings have adjustable pitch.

My electric has the option to let one side down but I would never go away and leave it out. That is the down side of not being to use tie downs.
Oh well, my wife likes it even though I was the one to always put it out and in. Go figure.

I'm guessing she feels more secure knowing she could bring the awning in herself if you should be not available to do so if a sudden wind should come up.

I have a '11 and it has an adjustable pitch awning. It works pretty well, but if there is a stiff breeze it needs to be either out all the way, or all the way in. If you try to leave it halfway the pneumatic shocks are not extended enough to keep the thing pushed out. Of course, I would not leave it out if the wind was more than about 7-8 mph, but I wouldn't do that with a manual awning anyway, bad for the canvas.
p.s. we have run into situations where we could only put the awning part of the way out because of a campground picnic table pavilion or some tree or something.

We spent the weekend camping in non-electric site due to the Mississippi River flooding out the lower campground. It was a good opportunity to try out the dry camping with the battery. We did make it all weekend but we were conservative with the lights.

Rustic.. Shipshewana is such an awesome community. Did you get to go to the Flea Market? We live about 25 minutes from there in NE Indiana...and by the sounds of your campsite in Michigan , we will have to try that State Park .. We have camped 3 times this year already at our favorite State Park ( Chain O Lakes) in Indiana.

No, didn't do the flea market this year. This was the year of the RV Surplus visits, but only found some little items I needed.
