Nice to have a spare home.

Last night we got home to find we had no water service at our house. Our main pipe had busted just on our side of the meter (of course) and a neighbor had turned it off for us.

Fortunately we were able to run a hose from the neighbor's house to our TT (which we keep parked in the driveway) so we could have hot water this morning to take a shower with.

It's Good to have a trailer and awesome neighbors!

Sorry for your trouble - My neighbors would have let the water run... I agree whole hardheadedly on the spare house thing.

Always on my mind, the TT can be used if a major system in the house craps out.

Glad you were able to swing over without much fuss.

How're the repairs to the water main going?

That is a nice bonus. Our central air died this summer, of course during a serious heat wave. We have a yard hydrant, a connection to the septic tank and a 30 amp outlet by our parking pad and we lived in the Greyhawk for four days.

We lived in ours in the back yard for 3 weeks a couple years ago while our wood floors were being refinished.

See if he'll also allow you to plug into his other systems (power, wi-fi, Netflix, etc).

We were close enough to the house to pick up our wifi and I ran a coax out there for the sat. tv.

A few years ago we got hit with freezing rain which took down many of the power lines in our rural area. Then before they could get the lights back on we got 18" of snow and more freezing rain.

We spent a total of 10 days in the RV before things were back to normal. It was certainly nice to have.

I'm slower than the average bear. Several years ago, as my bride and I made the transition to leave our long term rental and return to our permanent home (several hundred miles away) we were contemplating getting a hotel room during the move.

Then the mental lights turned on and Bing-bang-boom. I backed our old camper up to the front door and plugged it in.

Side story: during this stay someone attempted to mess with our vehicle gas tanks, parked only yards away, AND the dogs never alerted us.

I returned to my home base last night after a one night trip to South Carolina and found the water was off at my site. Actually I turned it off and brought my regulator in before I left, but the town had a bigger problem and I couldn't hook back up to the town water due to it being off. Major water main broke and would be overnight for repair. I didn't care. Fresh tank is always full in the winter so I can use it when it is below freezing and my outside connection is unhooked.

Having your own ready to go when a failure occurs. Nice!

I had always considered we could live in the trailer if the power fails, I had never though about having to use it for a water failure. Lucky for me the young man down the street was able to repair the broken pipe the next morning and we were back up and running by noon.

We have used ours during some hot summer days to sleep in and for our family when they come to visit. Makes a great additional guest space. We have since installed a heat pump in our house that supplies Air Conditioning too.
