That is a good price. We bought a Koldfront brand ice maker as a gift for our in-laws who often let us stay with them in their popup. $159.00 as I recall. I suspect that the identical unit as Koldfront is marketed under different brand names. It worked well for a couple seasons. When it quit the place we got it from sent replacement parts, but twice they were the wrong ones so it now sits in my basement awaiting disposal (after I finally admit surrender on the repairs).

That is a good point. My sister-in-law can be very fastidious so she was the perfect owner of a countertop ice maker. It seemed like she was always either harvesting ice or filling water. I would joke about our gift providing her a new part time job. I will say that she accepted the responsibility willingly though. Knowing the effort needed, I suspect my wife and I are not driven enough to keep on top of the ice production. We just make cubes in the freezer and supplement with bag ice as needed.
