Exclamation Northern California accident

Just saw on the news a TT owner drove off a bridge with his tow vehicle and trailer into a swampy area. Driver had to be hoisted from the truck back up onto the bridge. Both the TV and TT are still in the water. No word on his condition. We hope he is ok.

One of my worst fears is losing control while driving.

It just reinforces the need to keep your speed in check, leave lots of room between you and the vehicle in front of you, and keep your eyes on the road. I don't wish something like this incident on anyone!

In CA, if you are towing any type of trailer you are supposed to keep it at 55. Not all do but that is the law for towing. Bridges with the cross winds can be very dangerous. We always are cautious when crossing any large bridge while towing.

SACRAMENTO COUNTY: Man Flown to Hospital after Truck, RV Plunge Into Slough near Interstate 5
Posted on Wednesday, March 11th, 2015 at 8:41 pm

Man suffers medical emergency while driving truckSACRAMENTO COUNTY, CALIFORNIA (March 11, 2015) — According to California Highway Patrol, a man was flown to a hospital after the truck he was driving plunged into a slough under Interstate 5 on Wednesday, KCRA reported.
As per the article, the man, who reportedly suffered some type of medical emergency while driving down Interstate 5 near Twin Cities Road, was freed and lifted on a stretcher about 20 feet. The driver did not have any passengers in his truck or the RV it was towing at the time of the crash.

I think this article is the same crash...

Have had motorhomes all my adult life and used to drive in a rush everywhere. Now that I'm older (and have more time on my hands) I take it very easy. Even so, I think in this modern age we have to be extremely careful of looking at our gadgets on the road -GPS, TPMS, radios, phones, etc...

x2, as I sit behind a semi in the slow lane going 60 to 63 mph.

Are the 18 wheelers subject to the 'towing' speed limit?

Lance

That's a Lance trailer. I used to have one. Regardless of what caused the accident, I'm betting he was taking it to dealer for something. Just sayin'.
