We’ve stayed at the Ocean Waves CG and the Cape Hatteras KOA in Rodanthe. Ocean Waves is a smaller, family owned campground. We much prefer it over the KOA where you are crammed into small sites.

If you don't mind boondocking, Cape Hatteras National Seashore has several really nice campgrounds. We've stayed at Oregon Inlet CG several times. Very short walk to the beach. No hookups, but there is a dump station and water fill at the marina across the road that is free to use.

Wish they had nice campground on Ocracoke. Like to eat at Howards. Grew up camping on Ocracoke. Campground now parking lot for ferry.
