Opinion on Price: Jay Flight 29QBH vs. 31DSLB

I know that a "good deal" is all relative and is left to interpretation to the buyer....but I am looking for your opinion on the following:

2013 Jayflight 29QBH
MSRP: $28,164
Selling Price: $24,100 (15% off MSRP)
Trade: $10,000
Final Price After Taxes: $15,427
Local Dealer... 3 miles from my house

2013 Whitehawk 31DSLB Ultra Lite
MSRP: $32,900
Selling Price: $25,920 (21% off MSRP)
Trade: $7,650
Final Price After Taxes: $19,970
Dealer in Michigan... 6 hours away from my house.

I know that I can get the local dealer to match the price on the Whitehawk, but i also know he is going to only want to give me $7,650 for my trade....esentailly matching the deal from the Michigan dealer.

Do you have any advice/thoughts on how I can get the price of that Whitehawk down to closer to the 29QBH? Also, I am not nieve to the fact that these trailers are apples to oranges.

The price on the 29QBH is a "Show Price" from this past weekend. This trailer would be my second trailer from this dealer. 3 other family members all bought from the same dealer and all 3 have traded their campers in on other brands because of service and quality issues. My current trailer has been flawless.

Thanks for your thoughts.....

If your local dealer has a history of bad service as your family members can attest, I would look elsewhere. The main reason to buy local and pay more money is to get good service. The two trailers are nearly 5 grand apart on MSRP so getting the Whitehawk at the same price as the 29QBH will be a tall order. My only suggestion to get the price down on either unit would be to try a wholesaler such as RVdirect (you can get a quote online FAST) and sell your trailer privately. BTW 15% off MSRP is not much of a show price IMO. Welcome to the forum and good hunting!

Welcome rklavoon! Shoot for 30% off MSRP. Click on the link below my signi to find out more about "good deals". Also, if you can tell yourself "not" to be in a hurry, you may be able to find the exact model with options that you want for 30% off MSRP. Happy shopping! Let us know how it goes

I would think they could come down on the 29QBH. That is more than we spent on our 2012 32bhds.

We have been looking at the QBH too. Where I live in California a fully loaded 29QBH is $23995 including shipping ($2500) but not tax & License. The issue for us comes on the Trade In. As others have said 15% off MSRP isn't great, but selling prices with a trade in are directly tied to Trade Value.

The advice I have received, and will share, is sell you current TT private party then go negotiate your deal with out a trade in. That is the best way to get a great price. The problem with that is the hassle of selling a trailer, in our case a TT with a note outstanding. Exactly why we haven't upgraded yet. Maybe later in the spring.

We were looking at a 31dslb at a dealer in Michigan when we bought our eagle 314. The whitehawk was a new 12 and the selling price was under $22000.
