Outdoor cooking

What are you all doing for outdoor cooking? This will be our first trip where we stay in an area for an extended length of time. We like to BBQ a lot but also like the idea of a grill for bacon, eggs, etc. it’s usually just two of us so we don’t need anything huge.

Do you run on separate bottles or tap into your RV propane system?

Thanks in advance!

Walt

We travel with a small tabletop Blackstone grill. We have two aux propane outputs on the back of our trailer and just tap one to operate the grill.

Between the Blackstone and our outside kitchen, we do nearly 100% of our cooking outside except for a few things that we will heat up in the microwave.

For most of our past camping years we used a small tabletop weber with the green gas tanks. worked ok but now I have been really liking the discussions related to using a Blackstone solid griddle instead of traditional grill. Midnight, do you have the table that you can get with the Blackstone? And, how long of a propane hookup hose do you use?

Yes. We have the 17" Blackstone and the portable table that goes with it. Sometimes, we use the Blackstone table and others we use a cheap small folding table that we purchased at Sam's Club (Lifetime Brand I believe). It all depends on the amount of space we have when traveling.

We have a 12' propane hose with quick disconnects that we carry with us. It works well and allows us to move the grill a little distance away from the trailer.

Did you plumb the extra lines on your RV yourself or was it a factory option?

My old Keystone Outback TT and my Jayco Greyhawk have factory plumbed propane connections.

We have a 17"Pit Boss griddle and carry an extra 20 lb propane bottle and 15' hose. The one end of the hose attaches to the bottle and the other to the regulator on the griddle. Also use the same setup on a Weber portable grill. Just remember if you have a line from the bottle on you trailer it is already regulated. You will need to take the regulator of the griddle or grill to connect to the line on the trailer. Otherwise it is "double regulated" and will not work.

We cook exclusively outside. Usually there is 2 or maybe 3 of us.

I have an 11 lbs propane tank, with a manifold. I had 4 hoses made, two 16", and two 4'. I setup at the end of a picnic table.

We have a small webber grill. a 2 burner gas stove, and a 22" blackstone. Very surprised by how much we use the blackstone.

We 1st bought a 17" blackstone, based on experience with our troop's 22". After one season we went out and bought a 22". Much better heat distribution. Very easy to cook 2-3 different items at a time. I have even put the teapot on it.

Happy Camping.

They were factory installed.

We use the small Weber bbq and the 22’ Blackstone mostly. I do take a 3 burner Coleman stove if we are camping with other people. Our tt has the auxiliary propane fitting at the back of tt, but I find it more convenient to use a 5lb. Propane tank a 12’ hose. We also use the small plastic fold up table. We have the the Blackstone griddle stand but it stays at home on the patio most of the time( table is much easier to use). I would bet we cook outside 90% of the time, seems the microwave is the only inside cooking we do. I find we use the Blackstone much more than the bbq. Happy camping folks!!
