If you have the bed space get an auxiliary tank. Do a search & you’ll find a bunch of posts on it. I added the DeeZee 30 gallon tank in my bed.

I have a transfer flow 96 gallon on my old 7.3 f350 and have a 46 gallon replacement tank on my Tundra. They both work very well.

Put a DeeZee 40 gallon aux tank. Always fill my main tank (32 gallons) from the auxiliary so always using fresh fuel. Use a solenoid valve behind a 3 gpm fuel pump and it exchanges very quickly.

I’m running a titan in bed tank. It’s only 40 gallons but gives me plenty of range with my (ram) 31 gallon stock tank.

Yup, I do something similar: I pump from the aux to the main for ~15sec when my fuel gauge hits 3/4 tank. That will bring the main tank up to full again. If it doesn't, then it's time to fill the aux tank but I've still got 3/4 tank of fuel.

I also have a NAPA fuel filter and water separator between the aux and main tanks just because.

What he said...I have the 40 gallon, not 30 gallon. Must have hit the wrong digit. I also installed a solenoid to my aux switches...so it’s like midair refueling!!

I installed a 60 gallon Northern Tool combination tool box / fuel tank, also set up a timer relay to activate a n/c fuel solenoid for 30 minutes. Mine is gravity fed and will add about 10 gallons. I increased the supplied drain line from the 5/16" inch to 3/8", also ran a 5/16" vent line from the truck's fuel tank vent line to the additional tank. Northern also sells the fittings to connect to the trucks 2" fuel fill hose, I have a roll up bed cover that hides the fuel tank and hides the 5th wheel hitch when not towing the 5th wheel.

Prior owner put a 50-gallon TransferFlow auxiliary tank in the bed of my 7.3 PSD. Pump automatically balances with main tank (29 gals).

Our friend replaced his stock tank in in his 2001 f350 with a 60 gallon years ago. Loves it.

I couldn't even consider taking up valuable bed space with an auxiliary tank. If I was considering extra fuel capacity, I'd swap the tank. Of if they made an in-frame auxiliary tank then maybe that. But I'd never use the bed.

If you're handy at all, you could probably swap the tank yourself. But I say that as a bodyman/mechanic.

Just make sure the old tank is close to empty when doing it.

auxiliary tank in the bed will give you the most options for size and configuration and is cheaper but you loose bed space.

I went with a Titan XXL replacement tank because I was gonna have to have my tank dropped and flushed due to pumping some bad fuel at a station. Guy that installed it said it was really cool and he was impressed with it.

I guess it depends on how much stuff you want to take with you. For us, there is still more than enough space — tank doesn’t hog that much. Well worth the comfort of having 79 gallons.

I have an 80 gallon DeeZee auxiliary tank. It works great and you don't have to stop all the time to refuel.

I have a transfer flow 50 gal in the bed. Be sure if you are going to get one with a tool box it don't sit to high.
I went from a 5th wheel and now pull a 36' toy hauler. I put a flat topper on the bed. It is the type you can open from the front or back. Transfer flow says my tank is vented so it was ok under the top.

The bigger the tank the better because you can off load your rv at the camp and then go buy fuel for the truck. Also the price difference between states or even towns saves you money.

A good example AZ is about $1.00 per gal cheaper than Calif.

Yeah, have to take out a second mortgage to fill both tanks here.

On my 99 Ram 2500 I was debating between the titan and the aerotank. I went with the aerotank because it was a 60gal instead of the 55gal titan. I wasn't too happy with it. It bolted right in but the ears of the middle driveshaft yoke was so close when you step into the loud pedal a little bit the ears bang on the side of the tank. The paint they used was garbage. It rusted within the first year. So I had it sandblasted and sprayed with a spray on bedliner. The other issue is the slosh baffles in it didnt work very well. A 60gal tank and I couldn't get the last 6-7 gallons.

Titan has an assortment of in-bed auxiliary and under-bed after market tanks. Part of my purchase deal for my current 2500 Silverado CC 6.6 foot bed purchase was such an after market tank. I went from a stock 28 gallon tank to 57 gallons and retained the space for a full sized toolbox in front of the 5th wheel hitch. I am very happy eith it. I get about 1000 miles range slick and 600 with the 5er.
