I would imagine the type of surface (Filon, Fiberglass w/Gel Coat, Aluminum, etc.) would influence the process/products of removing oxidation. Along with the suggestions of the JOF members, I would also check the websites of the surface material manufactures.
I don't recall the products listed (rubbing compound, wax, etc.), but the manufacture of the Filon material to the RV industry did have some recommendations on addressing surface oxidation.
