Pancake lights with dimmer
It seems like a no-brainer that somebody would produce a pancake (single or doubles) with integral dimmer switch.
A LED upgrade is great for boondocking, but imaging if you could dim those lights too in order to conserve energy.
Anybody seen these anywhere?

With LED lights running about 90% efficient, I don't think you would save enough energy to justify the cost and time to install. If you were using traditional bulbs then it would be a worthwhile mod.

Gotcha.
Even though they run that efficient, imagine how little you would draw at 25% or 50%.
Maybe it isn't worth it. Less is better in my mind.

IMO, with today's technology it's a case of diminishing returns. With LEDs, the energy for lighting drops tremendously
(say without LED bulbs the power you needed was 100 & with LEDs you needed 10 - you've saved 90).
By comparison, incremental gains after reducing the power by 90 becomes comparatively quite small
(changes to reduce the power by another 50% would bring it down to 5 - you've saved 5).
Also, today's LEDs need a certain amount of voltage to work. Unlike an incandescent bulb, you can't just keep lowering the voltage using a dimmer to reduce the power needed and the light output.
To reduce the power used, just turn off one or more LED lights that aren't being used. That seems like the most efficient way.

Invest in a few battery operated led lights that can attach to the ceiling. You can get many hours on just a few aa batteries.

Or take a bright, battery powered flashlight and shine it into a gallon jug of water. Makes a soft, glowing light for an area.

I like the idea, not so much for the energy savings, but just to cut down on the brightness.

Just go to Amazon and type in "stick on LED lights" you will find a ton of them in different shapes and sizes and power...

Yeah, I've done that. I was hoping to get one just like the standard wired pancake lights but battery powered instead. I'll have to keep looking.
I installed shelving in the wardrobes to either side of my bed, and the stick on push light I have just doesn't offer enough coverage in there any more. So I'm going to kick it around a bit in the ol' noggen and see what I can come up with...
