Party light

Maybe this is the wrong section to ask this but here goes..

Have you seen the outdoor lights made from plastic plant pots that have the colored "jewels" glued into holes drilled around the decorative patterns on the outside? I am looking for the pots so I can make one. They used to be widely available years ago but seem to be unpopular now.

I have looked at Menards, Home Depot, Lowes, Wal-Mart, Hobby Lobby, and other places that might sell the larger plant pots to no avail. None of them have the molded decorative patterns suitable for use.

Does anyone know where I can get one or more of these pots?

Hi mcfarmall,

The planters you are searching for are no longer being manufactured. The maker, Lawnware, discontinued this line a few years ago. However, Ebay has many different pots on the site for sale. If you do a Google search for "lawnware flower pot light" you will find several examples and some decorated pots for sale. You may also want to hit yard sales this summer as sometimes folks have these at their sales. Hope this helps.

I was sad to find this out as I was wanting to make my own pot lights for our new camper.

It gives off a great light. I have about 15 more buckets to make lights with. The next one is going to have the cord come out the lid of the bucket.

**UPDATE** My patience has paid off!! I found a ready made lawnware light at the local on-line auction house, placed my bid of $5 and won it! I also found out that my father in law may be harboring 2 virgin Lawnware pots in his shop! Now the negotiations begin!

Just a thought, but couldn't one simply drill some holes in a pattern of choice and plug in a few strands of christmas lights to achieve a version of this? I realize that you would loose the brightness of the light inside but it might be a nice additional accent piece. Especially if you use LEDs then I could use it Boondocked!

Might have to get creative in the next month or so. I have two backup strands kicking around here somewhere. Just need a pot or something to drill into.

It has a 25 watt aquarium lamp...cylindrical about 5" long, clear, standard Edison base.
