Pay attention to road signs during your travels

Greetings all -

As spring approaches and we all head out to our long awaited camping trips, I thought it would be a good reminder for us all, especially newbies like myself.

Apparently the folks who own this 5-er trailer didn't see the road signs noting the road was NOT for large vehicles.

Gotta love the play by play commentary by the camera operator...what a ditz!

"Oooh, he's got one of those things"

(boyfriend) "A winch"

Priceless.

I saw a dude with a class A motorhome wedged under the south side approach to the Mackinac Bridge a few years back. I think he got stuck on the "Clearance 11' 2" " sign.

I used to drive 18 wheelers back in ancient history . One of the first things iIwas taught was to read E V E R Y road sign . It helps avoid issues like the one in above video . Keeps your focus on the road .

The difference on a GPS when you type in RD instead of DR or E instead of W can be hazardous. We ended up in a residential neighborhood on a dead end street once because of that.

Was not pulling the TT but my GPS wanted to take me down a narrow maintanance road on a mountain one time. Sometimes it chooses the shortest route, not necessarily the best route.

I don't know why, but this vid reminds me of the movie RV. The part where Robin Williams cleans out the poop tank and everyone is sitting in their chairs watchin' him!

Anybody got one of them hose stretchers????

There is a road like that in Wa. State near one of the State parks we go to and it says no RVs or vehicles over a certain size or weight. I drove my pickup down it and was nervous with how narrow and windy it was.

I use the gps but also sit down with a paper map each evening so I know where we will be traveling and note any questionable turn instructions on the gps. As a rule the first thing I do when entering a new state for the first time is stop at the visitors center and pick up a state road map. Only problem with that is that more and more states have stopped printing state road maps. Washington state is one of them. They say they are not needed with all the electronic media that are available. I call it cheap!!

That looks like Needles Highway in Custer SD. You think once he ripped the ac and awning off he would have been a whole lot more careful.
