PDI and Dealer Walk Through

I know there has been several threads on this topic. Especially when a dealer tries to charge an unreasonably high amount for the service. But, how many of us know/knew that per the Jacyo owner's manual, at least the one for the 2016 Eagle travel trailers, these are dealer responsibilities? Jayco "expects" the dealer to do these things, probably as part of their dealer agreement.

So, the next time a dealer tries to charge you, I would point this out to them. It may not make a difference, but it can't hurt to point it out.

There is a line item on the buyers order and invoice called 'Dealer Handling'

At my dealer, this item has a charge for 499.00

They don't break it out beyond that, but the safe assumption is that fee is for *everything* the dealer does before, and during the PDI to deliver what is hopefully a trailer that is ready to go.

If anyone is buying a camper and they are paying for Dealer Handling AND they have additional charges for the pdi, battery install, etc. Negotiate that price out of the contract, or find a better dealer. Just my 2 cents worth.

When buying a camper (or a vehicle for that matter) I really don't care how they distribute all the charges for taxes, prep, tag, this, that and the other things. I don't even look at the contract/bill of sale until we have agreed on the bottom-line price. ie: What do I write the check for.

If the contract/bill of sale does not agree with the negotiated price then no sale. I walk.

X2. Free shipping. 50% off. Tax free. Whatever. What's the bottom line price I'm paying? I know I'm paying for everything eventually.

I agree with this. The final, out the door price with all fees and tax is what matters.
