Picking up a new Trailer?

If I order a trailer from my dealer here in Texas, can I go to Indiana and pick it up?

Either directly from Jayco or from a transport company?

No, Jayco does not allow a direct purchase. You have to order through a dealer and have it shipped by a Jayco approved transport company to that dealer. I **think*** that you can buy from RVDirect.com and they have a dealership in the same town they are made.

The RV direct dealer in Middlebury Indiana is no longer open. You can order your trailer from the RV Connection in Middlebury and pick it up there.

The closest RV Direct to Indiana is in Des Moines Iowa.

I wasn't looking to purchase in Indiana, I am planning to BUY here in Texas.

What I'm concerened about is Crash Corrigan the transport driver trying to set the land speed record with my brand new trailer.

I DID understand your question. Jayco's requires that you pick up your new TT from a dealer. You cannot pick it up at a transport company or the Jayco factory. That is their policy.

With RV direct, you can have your TT delivered to your location with the exception of Jayco's. You still have to go there and pick it up.

What is your goal buying in Texas and picking up out of state?

Ok, so let's say........... my dealer has a transport driver or they happen to have someone in Indiana at the same time as a trailer is ready, could Jayco release to this said driver?

Not sure about that one. Like spoon059 said, that driver/company would have to be approved by Jayco.

I still don't understand what your trying to accomplish besides purchasing in Texas and picking it up yourself cutting out the transport company.

If your looking to save a lot of money, purchasing it in Indiana and picking it up yourself would save a lot of $$$.

My parents live in Arizona and came here to Michigan and purchased the Jayco TT they wanted and saved over 12k and drove it back home.

My concern is the legal side of it. My guess is the certified transporter is bonded and insured as a company and there might not be a way around it.

Anyway I have read to many stories about transport drivers that it concerns me more than I am comfortable with.

A friend of mine is a transport driver. He is an independent entity. I DO know he is bonded and carries liability insurance.

Yes, I hear those stories as well. With that said, once the TT is delivered to your dealer, they will inspect it and prep it for your delivery. YOU have the final opportunity to inspect it yourself and have any damage you may find caused by the transport company repaired before you take possession.

I hope that eases your concerns.

Just out of curiosity, how many hours a day to they travel?

We have an RV somewhere between here and Indiana and are wondering when it would get to California.

3 days??? We're 2200 miles away. Hard to believe they can do it that fast. That's a lot of hours in the saddle.

At least you won't have to worry about burnishing in the brakes.

I am in Texas and picking mine up in Des Moines via RV One / RV Direct. Too good of a deal to pass up - local dealer wouldn't even come close and was pretty arrogant about the whole deal.

At any rate, you don't take ownership / possession of the unit until you do your PDI and sign the paperwork. If the transport company screws something up in transport, refuse the unit or have it repaired. I doubt it happens too often. You are more likely to have defects from manufacturing than a speed demon damaging your TT transporting it to the dealership.

You and I most likely went to the same dealer but I found one in Abilene who looks like it is going to work. I'm in the process of selling my current trailer then I will order a 338RETS.
