For years I have had all my bills paid for out of an account.
I still get the bills by mail or internet.

The only problem was my credit card bill which has a major
swing $200 to $1000. I went on to my Discover site and noticed
I had the option to on due date, Pay in full, pay in part or pay
the min amount. I used one of the items.
I still pay the bill on a date prior to the due date but just in case
something happens, medical etc or just forgot, the money will be
taken out on the due date. They even send me a reminder although
I have already paid the bill.
I am sure most credit cards have that option.

Chuck,

The newest version of Quicken has two features that address you question: 1) you data file is now hosted on their server, in the cloud as they say. Also, they have a web version that allows you to enter transactions, see balances, etc without having to install the quicken program or have the data file on your local machine.

The only down side is that not all features are supported in the web browser version yet. For example, it does not support asset accounts (pretty rare) yset.

Do you have link where I can read up on those options, so googling hasn't helped me?

the Cloud

I think your best bet is to use a cloud storage provider like Google, Microsoft or better yet, a commercial vendor who only does online storage like Drop Box.

Set your home Quicken save folder to a mapped drive pointing to Drop Box (or whomever you choose) and then when you are on the road, your laptop can open and save files to the same location your home PC does.

This also works well when you take photos on the road and want to save them off a camera or phone to your online Drop Box storage. That way you can free up space on the camera and they will be on your 'drive' when you return home.

I have used Drop Box for a while, saving things from work that I wanted to get to from home. Works well.
