The only time I needed one was when I parked it outside my house for a week and a half and than it was brought to the campground and spent the whole summer there and it is still at the campground waiting for next spring

It is a huge help hooking and disconnecting the WD bars. There would be an awful lot of cranking otherwise. Would not want to be without it.

Was blessed [not] with arthritic shoulders and cranking the nose of my old TT was both a pain and painful. After having total joint replacement surgery on both shoulders, I'm happy to say that I could crank it up without a problem, but it was still a pain. My new Whitehawk was ordered with the power nose jack and I love it. Do not find the powered corner jacks to be necessary and I didn't order them. I just use a cordless drill and zip they are up. My drill dies and I'm out another $49 or less for a new one. The nose jack on the other hand is a lifesaver, making it a breeze to hook and unhook my TT.

Love mine last two trailers have had it. The WDH is so much simpler with the jack, I did replace the inline fuse with a circuit breaker.

Have a 5er with power landing gear now, but also have a car hauling trailer, and would not be without a PTJ. My previous camper, a 29 ft TT, also had a PTJ. Both were Atwood brand, and never had a problem with either one.

Nobody loves their PTJ more then their spouse? We have some happy marriages here on JOF!

After an EMP event I'll still be able to raise and lower my Armstrong jack.

Ordered the PTJ - told by several that it's a "must have" for engaging/disengaging the WD

I can't imagine being without one! My wife actually likes it better than me!!!! (just kidding)..... But she does enjoy using it. I think it's a neat way to get her involved in the whole set-up process!

Most power jacks have an emergency hand crank, mine does but I have not used it yet so I do not know how hard it is to employ.

Just make sure you have an extra fuse on hand. I learned the hard way when I was unloading after a trip back from the dealer and I did not get the front of the truck off the driveway pavement. It made it sit about 3 inches higher, and trying to disengage the WD, I blew a fuse trying to raise the rear of the truck that high to get the bars off.

My trailer had an issue from the factory with the PTJ, it would go through fuses like candy on 12V. The dealer tested and then replaced the jack. On the way home I stopped by an Auto Parts store and picked up a 30amp circuit breaker. When I got home I replaced the fuse with the CB so if I ever overload the jack the CB will trip then in a few seconds automatically reset. Fuse issue resolved.

One thing I would like is a 24 inch jack over the 18 inch that comes from the factory.

With the way that Jayco builds the tongue (which I like) it is several inches higher than most other manufactures so using a standard jack is in reality to short. Barker is the only company I found who sells a good 24 inch PTJ but at almost $300 I think I'll wait and keep using blocks for now.

Am I missing something here? I use the snap-up brackets on my trailer tongue to tension my WDH. Do you folks that use the jack have a different type of WDH without snap-up brackets?

Using the jack just makes it easier with my setup. I do not have to even use the pipe to tension/release the bars if it is raised up.

The Equalizer WD hitch does not have the chins and snapup brackets. The bars go onto an L bracket on the trailer. There is a little pry tool but the simple way to connect i to raise the trailer when attached to the truck until the bars will swing onto the L brackets.

My old trailer was light as a feather, so didn't think I needed one. While hooking up the WD hitch during the orientation/walkthrough on the Eagle, I did the cranking to see what it was like. Needless to say, there was a PTJ on it before I left the dealer!

My 26BH came with a manual crank but I replaced it with a PTJ a few months after we took delivery....I set up one day in 95 plus degree heat and I was glad I made the investment. I rarely use the leverage bar that came with my WDH to install/remove the bars... just lift the TT/TV high enough to work the bars off/on by hand.
