Private Messages - Boy am I ignorant
So I’m reading some of the posts from today and I come across one where a JOF member tells another member to look at his PM. I’m thinking what is a PM because it was referencing a troubleshooting problem. Even the OP asked what a PM was. Then Norty chimes in that PM is a private message and you need to look in the upper right corner of the forum screen below your welcome.
Well lo and behold I looked at mine and sure enough there are several PM’s and some of them are over 2 years old. I feel pretty foolish right now because I never knew that PM alert was located there and so I never responded to any of them except by posting another message on the JOF. I apologize to anyone who sent me a PM in the past without getting a response.
Hopefully all of you who read this are a lot smarter than I am when it comes to knowing where and what to look for in regards to communicating electronically. And if you’re a newbie you will have learned this a lot sooner than I did..........lol...!!!

I'm sure it's a non-event. They would've posted something on the general forum, if it was that urgent. We all learn every day.

I also did not notice the PM’s, but that because I view the messages in TalkATap. I can only see the PM’s if I log into the actual website.

We now send a generated PM from one of our moderators as soon as a new member completes the registration process, so learning about PMs is one of the first things a new member experiences after joining.
When you registered in January of 2017, I don't think we were doing this, but better late than never to learn.

Isn't there also a PM reminder email set to the email address on file of the member?

There is an email sent out if the member has the notifications turned on in their settings.

The notifications are a must! I love the fact I get emails that someone left a comment on a thread I am interested in or has sent me a PM. Good work team

This may be a good time to remind members to spend a few minutes reviewing your User CP settings and choices.
Just log in and click on the first choice on the yellow line near the forum top.

There are quite a few forum features not visible when on the mobile version. Switching to "full site" at the bottom of the page makes all the features visib!e.
