Propane alarm Atwood

My propane alarm has gone off twice for no reason. The first time it was at five in the morning. I purchased a propane gas detector as back up, if it where to hepen again. The second time the propane alarm went off before midnight the the back up one was not reading anything. Do anyone know why it is happening?

Low battery voltage, bug spray, dog farts, and end of useful life will set it off. Mine is exactly like yours and quit after 7 years. The only place I found an identical replacement was on eBay. Good price and I got in less than a week.

Well, that’s a different issue. Can you smell any propane. Ours went off one time and it turned out one of the stove burners wasn’t turned all the way off. It should be under warranty.

Definitely take it back to the dealer, but for a replacement new one. There's no fix to them since they're disposable at their end of life.

At least yours didn't start going off at 2 am like our has. They never sound off at a respectable time of day.

If taking it to the dealer is a hassle, especially if they want you to leave it, just buy a new one. I think I paid around 40 bucks on eBay. Four screws, 3 wires and 30 minutes of your time.

Just remember to turn off the 12 volt power.

Here you go:

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw...l1311&_sacat=0

The 2 red wires go to +12 volts, black to ground…my ground was a white wire.

For me it would be less trouble, time and cost to replace it myself.
I would take the detector and scan near every source of lp gas to see if it detects anything. You could look on the back and verify the birthdate is not out of range but replacing is the only fix.
