Propane smell...

The smell of propane is pretty strong -- only when the generator is running.
Turn off the generator, no more smell.
A visual check of fittings that can be seen underneath, between the propane tank and its fittings and the generator, revealed nothing obvious.
What might be happening...?

Could it be unburnt propane in the exhaust? A loose/bad gasket between the carb and the engine intake?
With everything off get out the trusty soapy water and wet down every junction and fitting. If no leaks prior to the engine then it is exhaust or in the intake area.
