PT 50C Just doing it's job again

We checked in yesterday to our current campsite for the next 17 days. Connected power to the 50 pedestal and got a error code 06 (low Volt L-2).

I would test ok and as soon as the EMS switch operated to pass voltage, I could see 97 vac on the indicator for a flash before it shut down. Read on the pedestal both legs were 119 vac with no load.

Cg persona changed the 50a breaker and all is well. CG repair said the breakers are not meant to be used as switches and when you operate them with a load the contacts eventually break down and fail.

Without the EMS, who knows what would have happened. If the breaker didn't trip, I could have had ac damage.

Nice! It's always nice to hear examples that EMS isn't a waste of money.

That's why we always use our 30 amp EMS. You just never know what lurks out there.

I’ve not heard that abt breakers but it makes sense. With a load there’s probably some arcing as they close.
There’s a running thread about the favorite mod. My cable spool is my most useful but the EMS is the most important. It doesn’t trip often but when it does it makes me a happy camper.

I never ever plug in anywhere without my PT50X (used to be C). I'm so convinced that is worth the money I actually have 2 of them. One as a spare in case the primary one has to go back for repair/replacement, etc.

Our "spare" is a 30A that we had with our first TT. We use at home, but always take with us just in case...
