Has anyone put a 90 degree elbow on the connection so you can shut the door with the hose connected?

A similar, but different, question...

I like to put a 90 degree elbow on the water intake, so that the hose hangs straight down, reducing the strain on the plastic hull fitting.
If I left the elbow permanently attached, would that be considered a safety hazard, legally?
(The fittings are flush with the hull, not inside any kind of door)

I leave 90 degree elbows connected all of the time. I have never had any issue.

Here is my setup for Back water and Drinking water inlets. Elbow, on off valve, quick disconnect and rubber stopper to keep bugs out when not in use.

I like it, I wish I could find a cover to go over mine instead of a plug

Take one of those to a hardware, or auto parts store and get some vacuum, or water pump bypass caps that fit over it. They should be very inexpensive. What's the OD of the nipple?

I never found a good cover so I got the rubber plugs and ran a string thru it and tied it off to the fitting so I could let it hang without having to keep up with them.

Tried them. They We’re both plastic then brass and they leaked. Got tired of wiping up wet Bay Area. Now use only brass fittings and keep a pair of channel locks with my hoses. Not that hard to use pliers. Zero leaks. To each his own.

Enjoy the journey

I don’t understand what the problem is, I bought a second set, put a cap on one and a plug in the other and just snapped It on when needed. case closed.
