Quick Connect Water Hose Fitting

Has anyone used a quick connect water hose fitting? This seems like a great idea but I wonder about any flow or pressure loss.

Had them on all my rigs, hoses and regulator. Even set up whole house filter using them and a short piece of hose to connect to the spigot. Just buy the better quality brass ones.

I use the aluminum ones from Amazon. Like Grumpy, I use them on all my connections, just don't forget and leave parts of them behind. I've never had one leak yet, and no noticeable loss in flow.

I use them too and like Grumpy I prefer brass. I’ve had a couple start to leak. Sometimes cleaning will stop it and if not I pitch it and get another from my spares box. I haven’t noticed any loss of flow.

In my quest to simplify my life I gave away all my QC brass connectors.

One less thing to maintain!

Use quick connects on all of my home hose items as well as my motorhome. In my rig I have them on the hoses, filter, regulator, shut off valve, etc. I don't leave the nipple connected to the fill port or rinse port. I just screw that in when I am ready to connect the hose.

They work great and don't leak at all. Only had a problem one time when I didn't have the quick connected completely locked in. After I dried myself off I was able to click it into place.

Our travel partners had one blow off and soak a lot of their stuff while we were out for a short walk. And yes, they were using a pressure regulator so it can't be blamed on campground excessive pressure.

This seems like a good idea to avoid having to always connect to the plastic fitting on the side of the trailer which is easy to cross thread and leak. Do they get dirty/damaged/lost if you leave them on the side of the rig when driving down the road? I see at least one person said they remove them. Is this why? If you remove them every time, what is the benefit of having them?

I leave the ones in the wet bay connected, the one on the outside I remove after flushing the second black tank.

You can get a cap that would cover the end. Same type of cap they use on propane hose fittings.

Believe it or not I've had great luck with the brass ones from Harbor freight! Maybe I'm just lucky but they don't leak and once clicked in they don't come apart! Cheap way to try and see if you like them, then replace as needed with better ones if you like them.

Yep, brass ones to make hook up and disconnect easier. Never had a problem.

A plastic one came with my macerator. I really like it. I will consider using more of them.

I also should have mentioned per the OP. I have not noticed any effect on the pressure or flow when using the quick connect.

Just received 8 sets of the Twinkle Star 3/4" quick connectors. I have them on everything now. Solidly built and so easy to connect. I had the same thing happen ........ owner error didn't get too wet.

I use the better quality brass ones, however, I find they do start to get a little difficult to connect and disconnect overtime. Nothing a little Pam cooking spray can’t fix! I would never use silicone or petroleum based sprays for drinking water attachments.

I love that Pam spray! When I was in my teens I complain to my father my Snow skis were never fast enough and the wax he was using didn’t do the trick, so he sprayed them with Pam cooking spray without telling me! I almost killed myself! I never complain again about my skis! LOL

i use them on all my connection. I leave the male ends connected to the camper at all times. I have some rubber stoppers I bought on ebay to plug the ends to keep dirt daubers out.

I use the brass ones and I have about 20 of them. Aluminum doesn't like being connected to dissimilar metals

I assume you are talking about the brass quick connect hose fittings. Yes, I use those and it makes connecting my water line onto the RV much easier. I have also found if you spend a couple bucks extra and get the Nelson brand fittings (Amazon) they do not leak.
