Rainy Day DVD's.....

It may be 21 degrees out today, but in less then 3 months we'll already have our first camping trip of the season under our belt. I can't wait!

Last season was our first having a trailer. Before that our parents used to take us tent camping, but the last time was probably the early 90's. Times have sure changed. The weather last summer was beautiful. We really didn't have a day where it rained all day and were stuck inside. I know we won't be so lucky next season. lol

So the past few days I have been making copies of all my DVD's to keep in the camper. When all is said and done, I'm looking to have about 100 movies of all types. Some cartoons for the kids, some newly released movies and stuff for my retired parents too.

I bought a dvd binder that stores about 100 discs. I'm going to arrange the movies alphabetically, but I'm also going to create an alphabetized, laminated list in the front of the binder for easy browsing. I am also creating labels for each disc with the movie title, the movie poster and two of our own camping pictures for a personalized touch.

Here's a preview.

That will really come in handy for the kids if you hit a rainy day. I remember carrying a pile of VHS tapes when my children were younger.

When I was a kid we had to read a book or play a game. Kids have it made.

Same here. It's just nice to have a few different options to keep everyone entertained. Like I said though, it's not just for the kids. There's plenty of stuff for the grownups too.

What NO BOOKS.
I take books every where I go.
My Kindle is well traveled too.
Its amazing how few peole read any more.
Terry Pratchet, Dean Koontz, Hugh Howey, Jasper FFord, (two Fs) Stanton Friedman, Noe Torres, Just to mention a few.
All most movies do is thrill your mind for 90 minutes then nothing.
A good book can thrill your senses and keep you entertained for days.

I agree with you completely. My mom has her ipad, my sister and I have iphones and my niece has a kindle. We all read books on them, it's great.

We had a few rainy days last season and we played alot of UNO and Yahtzee, but the kids did retreat to their bunkhouse to watch some old VHS tapes on the combo TV/VCR that's older than they are!

Yep, we wouldn't camp without some old-fashioned books (the ones with real paper pages) on board. My wife got a new Kindle for Christmas, but still likes the real books as well. No batteries to worry about, and you don't have to put up with advertisements or "offers". Even our daughter still likes to read real books. Guess we're dinosaurs, but we're proud of it.

Neat idea, seems very time consuming! If its raining we play cribbage or break out the kindle, if all else fails I usually bring along a few blu ray movies or there's always Netflix.
