Ram 2500...Talk me IN or OUT

I feel I have a very good price offer from a local dealer for a 2500 on the lot.

2017 2500 Tradesman Crew Cab.

  • 6.4 Hemi
  • Chrome Appearance Group
  • Snow Chief Group
  • Popular Equipment Group
  • Protection Package
  • Power Trailer Tow Mirrors
  • Brake Controller
  • Parking Sensors
  • Backup Camera
  • Rear Park Assist

MSRP $44,945

Offered at $35,499.....Good Price?

I'm an inch from the cliff....Should I jump in with no looking back?

If the truck has all the minimum options you would want, and feel it's the best price you can get, go for it!!! Even if it has the 3.73 gearing it will tow your rig without any issues!!!

Could you possibly beat that price, maybe.... But when and how far would you have to travel to get it? Time and distance are worth

To me it looks like that is a good, fair price for both you and the dealer. Especially if that's the otd price!!!

JUMP, JUMP, JUMP!!!!

Start a new thread with pics when you pick the new beast up!!!

If it's a concern for you.....those engines require premium gas.

Dealers up here are at 10,000 off MSRP.
Can you find one with 4.10 gears. That increases towing capacity a lot (like 3k lbs more)
Don't be aftaid to go with an offer of 2,000 less than his, you can always come up.
Tradesman Crew Cab I'm currently looking at has 6.4, with the 4.10 gears, pretty well equipped for 33,800.
( back up camera, tow mirrors, cloth bucket seats, plow prep, slip diff, brake controller, bed lights, skid plate etc....

Saw in a Ram owners manual....that the 6.4 Hemi has the same recommendation as the 5.7 Hemi I have now.

89 octane is listed as optimal but 87 is acceptable.....also says not to use premium.

For me? I'd try and hold out for the air bag suspension, but, they are hard to find and probably at a premium.

I'd try to get more off. It's the end of the model year and they are trying to get rid of inventory. But, it's a gamble. Will someone else buy it at that price?

If it is exactly what you want, and you can't find another one like it, then you might want to go for it.

PS they usually have big sales on Labor Day weekend.

Nope, they don't...

OP, that's not the most amazing price I've ever seen, but that's a pretty good deal. If it meets your needs I say go for it! I have a 2015 Tradesman and I really like.

You better grab it at that price while you can. Im in the Detroit area and the dealers are very competitive, not many 2500 Tradesman models but the few showing are about 10k off MSRP.

No sir it require 87 octane, the 2016 and up and not 89 octane I would put 89 octane if you are towing but other than that 87 octane.

Yes that is a steal, I would get it, I would ask if it a 3.73 or the 4.10 gears.

Gotta love posts like this that give no reason why and the poster does not tell us what they own.
The price on the truck is great and it will make a very nice TV.

So here is my thought as someone who has a 2015, 2500, 6.4 tradesman, I wish I would have got a one tone diesel.

Here are the reasons why; diesel has a engine break, which would have been real nice to have when I hit that 14% grade in Utah. Yes you read that right 14% that was between Boulder, UT and Bryce. The other reason is I would like to change out my bed to a flat bed which weighs more.

But for me anymore the engine break is huge and wound be great feature to have and worth the extra cash.

I too am a diesel guy, especially in a 2500/3500, but it isn't for me. I think you'll like the towing ability of that combo though. It'll definitely get you many miles!

Being that you live in Wyoming and you have a 4 wheel drive now, I don't think you will be happy happy with a 2 wheel drive truck.

My initial thought is: that's a really good offer. However, if you are financing, did you get a good rate? Also, are you trading in your 1500? If so, did you get a good trade in offer? All three of these inputs should be considered, because it's the overall cost that rally matters....
Good luck!

Not a Dodge person. Sorry, but a Dodge diesel sounds as noisy as the front loader crap mover at the county transfer station.

The 6.4 would be nice, but if you had to buy a Dodge, despite the noise (I know, wish-washy, huh?), I think the diesel would be a better trailer mover.

They haven't made Dodge trucks for years. It is a Ram. Other than my sarcastic comment, I will add my brother has a similar setup and is very happy with it pulling a 26' Octane. I personally have a Duramax and would have trouble going back to a gas for towing, but I only use it for towing. If it was my daily driver, I'd have to look hard at any of the big 3 gas engines.
