Talking Rambling on about our 6 and 1/2 week trip to east if ya got a few minutes

2012 Jayfeather 242 and 2012 Ram 1500 5.7 hemi Quad cab.

Stops in Ohio(2 places ), Pennsylvania, Connecticut(15 days), Penn. again, Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Then long day home. Travel time from stop to stop varied from 3 1/2 hours to 6 1/5. Averaged about 10.5 MPG except from Small Country Camp Ground in Virginia to Beech Fork COE in western West Virginia(9.4 for That trip). Ran 55 until trip from Yogi Bear(recommend especially if kids involved) in Penn, to Conn. Did some testing and found best speed/power combo was between 60 and 65 for TV with no real change in MPG so stayed with cruise set at 63 for rest of trip. Not gonna lie - did kick it out of cruise and down to 50 to pull some of those little hills crossing Va. and W. Va. I figured better on truck to do 50-55 at 2300 RPM than 60+ at 4000+ RPM. Opinions on that welcome as I consider my self a NEWBIE. After a while I was able to just drive and mirrors were my reminder I was pulling a camper. Seemed like I felt smaller cars passing real fast much more than the Semi trucks when being passed. TT , TV , WD and Sway control seem to match up well as I never once felt anything that was any worse than just driving the TV alone.

Sight seeing highlights - Pro Football Hall Of Fame, Little League at S. Williamsport, Plymouth Mass., Washington DC. , Skyline Drive in Va. and many Civil War Historic sites. Plus more STUFF than I will Not try to cover. And a couple of sit around and do nothing days.
Did some geocaching in every state we stayed. Did a 5K or better in Ohio, Penn., Conn., Mass., Maine, Rhode Island, Va., New Hampshire, and Kentucky where we got Number tags(for scrap Book) for our attempt to do a official Road Race in every state and a T shirt for a quilt when we get all of them done.

Wish I could leave again tomorrow and head north west. Will go back east sooner or later as we missed running in a few states because of time/distance problem.

Did have a GPS moment that lasted 1 1/2 hours. Beech Fork I OUT there. GPS put us on a DEAD end route to get in the back way. NOT!!!! Road closed ahead!!! Too far and road tooooo curvy and hilly to back to a turn around spot. Thought I was going to have to call for help and hope some one smarter than me could help. Instead I walked down the road to try to find a spot. Found a house with low tree and downed limbs blocking narrow drive. 20 minutes later and 3rd of 3 total house on road I got lucky and found last house had a small circle drive. I did say small didn't I. No answer at door. Gotta try it and hope not to run over flowers. Walk Back to outfit. Head to house and start into drive. Lady comes out when she sees the Boss. Alone and would not come to door for a male. (smart lady). She said "go for It - flowers will grow back - or not- no problem". It worked and she volunteered to lead us to campground as we were still about 10-12 miles away because route was tricky(NICE Lady).
Bye Now.
As you may have guessed we had no TT or TV issues. Only problem was guy behind the wheel - Me.

Sounds like a fun trip. Glad everything worked as designed.

Kind regards,

Would have never stayed at Small Country CG. The owner is out to have all VA state CG's charge the same as commercial CG's even though are not run like private CG's. Very few who are aware of his stance will camp there.

I Just picked closest place to where I had a reason to be. Being from central Illinois so all I know is I was treated well there. Counted 45 RV of all types and stopped counting. Probably around 60 total during week days and maybe a 100 total on the weekend. There were a couple of 1 night stoppers and a 2 nighter set up close by during my 6 nights. There were lots of open sites.
