Rant

Just me griping about the fact no Provincial campgrounds will be open in New Brunswick for the May 24 long weekend. What were they thinking......... that they'll save a few buck by not opening until the end of May. Everyone who camps usually starts the May long weekend and goes thru to Labour Day at least. I personally think they'll lose a lot more than they're gaining. Oh well, I guess I'll have to camp at a private CG or National CG for the first camping trip.

That sucks. Our provincial sites open on the May long. It usually snows anyways here.

Because of too many young party types, we learned to never camp in a Provincial Park during the May 24 weekend. No loss for us.

The cost of having them open for just the weekend campers and vacant the rest of the week is what is behind this.. Not saying I agree with it but that is how it is..

I spoke too soon. Aparently the Provincial CGs are going to be open for the Victoria Day long Weekend now. They must have seen this thread on JOf and realized the bad PR they were getting

David472, I agree with the long weekend being a young partier's weekend at some campgrounds, But I've seen it at other campgrounds as well, just not as frequent. I've had to deal with some next to us during the August long weekend too.

Alcohol is not permitted in provincial park campgrounds during the May long weekend.

You are close to Hartt's Island not sure what it's like or if it's open. I did notice that yogi bear up in Woodstock was not open till June I think????

Yup, close to Hartt Island, but not my kind of camping, only about 20 minutes away. Yogi Bear caters to young kids and right next to Trans Canada Highway.

We went to Kozy cabins in Woodstock last year, very small but handy, facing the river. 3W, accept passport America and Good Sam
The cabins part and hotel were a bit on the spooky side lol.
We'll stop there again on our way to Parsborro this summer.

Yup campgrounds on the highway are not the hot set up that's for sure. I like to be off the beaten path myself. Hartt Island I heard is geared towards kids as well.
