Refrigerator

I have to ask, when hooked up and ready to pull out with our 2022 fifth wheel 28.5 RSTS. Does everyone turn off your main power disconnect? If you do this what happens with the food in your refrigerator. Anyone have any input?

Switch it over to LP, leave master switch on. Control board on frig needs 12 volts.

It depends...If your fridge runs on 12 volts and propane, it will continue to keep things cool. If it runs on 120 volt AC it will gradually warm up as you travel, whether your stuff spoils depends on the outside temperature and the length of your trip before you connect to power.

I never flip the disconnect unless I will not be connected to shore power for extended periods (aka like a week or more).

Do take note, that your 12V disconnect, probably does not fully disconnect everything. Historically, the control module for the auto level still has power, jacks don't move, but it keeps its memory. Jcommand stays powered up (keeps its memory too), but the connected devices do not work. I have heard rumors that on newer campers the CO/Gas detector still works. On my TT, it gets powered down with the disconnect thrown.

Best thing to do, get a master disconnect and place it on the main battery line.

You can confirm what is still getting power, get a multimeter with an Amp Clamp. First test the positive power lead coming off the battery. If there is a reading, something is powered up. Then test the power feed wire leading into the various devices to determine what is getting power.

Sometimes, if you ask Jayco nicely they will send you the 12V wiring diagram, and you can tell what is always powered and what is not. You need your vin # when you make the request. Many people have said Jayco refused their request. But they sent the drawing to me. I had figured I would lie to customer service that I needed to install a medical device to make the trailer ADA compliant for a family member. It did not come to that

Good Luck

Depending on your fridge it may not matter. Our Norcold 2118 will not keep its cool on gas going down the highway. I suspect the wind wont allow the heat to stay where its needed. Flame will still be going but fridge will hit 48 degrees on a day long hot drive. Yours may work fine depending on model.
