Refrigerator Fire.

Hello,

Switched over to propane as I prepared to head out Saturday.

The refer started fine but I notice awhile later that the light was blinking so I tried to restart with no luck.

When I opened the outside access panel I found the burner tube was covered with melted plastic (?) and the area was quite charred.

I tested the fridge on propane a few days before and there were no signs of trouble.

I'm actually surprised the whole trailer didn't go up in smoke.

I was thinking maybe it had ignited some cobwebs but not sure as it seemed to run fine a few days before.

I will blow the area out with compressed air as part of my Spring prep from now on.

The unit is working on electric but not sure it can be repaired for propane operation.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Where did the plastic come from? The flue is all metal and is crimped at the top.

After looking at some images online, I think the plastic was from a drip collection tray that hangs above the tube.

Then it could have been a spider web which can cause it to burn back. They can get in there pretty fast.
