Reserve America
Can anyone tell me when Reserve America begins to take reservations for the upcoming year. I know it used to be January 1st but it's sooner than that now.
I tried to book a couple of holiday weekends 3 weeks ago and they were already booked up. ???????

It's not Reserve America that decides when, it's the property owner, i.e. the individual state park service/DNR or private owner.
For example for WI state parks reservations can be made 11 months in advance. Other states have different rules.

You can reserve campsites in New York State Parks 9 months in advance. For some highly sought after campsites on certain dates, the instant those campsites are available they are snatched up. I read an article about campers in California using Bots to reserve highly desired campsites during holiday times. Your state may have different reservation periods for state parks. Read the instructions and it probably indicates how far ahead you can reserve. I have noticed a change in reserving NY state parks, you have to check off “I am not a robot”. Of course robots have no conscience so they will probably lie about that!

I forgot to mention that NY uses Reserve America, too. California used Reserve America in the past, but I don’t know if it still does. Good Luck.

We also do alot of camping in New York State Parks via Reserve America. We spend 1 week at Wellesley Island State Park usually at the same campsite which we like very much. We usually see a few of the same campers every year in our loop. Mostly everybody tries to get the campsite we usually get because it is very nice and spacious. However, we mark our calendar exactly 9 months prior to our arrival date and reserve the site at the stroke of midnight. Most times we win, other times, someone is just a little bit quicker on their mouse.

They are on recreation.gov, but when you click to make a reservation it switches to reserve america where the actual reservation is made and paid for.
