Roof bubbles

Just bought a new 2024 Jayco NorthPoint on Saturday and during the walkdown I pointed out that the roof had quite a few bubbles scattered throughout roof top. Dealer told me that they would contact Jayco to find out what needed to be done. I’m starting to think I probably shouldn’t have taken delivery of unit and waited on dealer to receive another unit. Are the bubbles an issue because i kinda expect they will come back and say this normal, but i have a crossroads Kingston that i bout in 2007 new and have never had the first bubble.

I bought a Class A in 2001 without inspecting the roof. The first time I got on the roof there were 20+ bubbles about the size of dinner plates from front to rear in the roof material. It took the threat of a lawsuit for the manufacturer to agree to replace the roof. It cost the manufacturer over $8000 for a roof replacement.

They tried to tell me it would improve with time and not worry about it. Not true, it will only get worse.

Hopefully your dealer will do the right thing and replace it with a new one or agree to have it repaired.

Lesson learned, when I bought my last two trailers my inspection started with the roof.

Good luck..

Why didn't they do that before you bought it? They should have seen that when they took delivery and accepted it.

For the most part the people working at dealership have no clue about campers. The guy doing my delivery walk through had a hard time figuring out how to operate different components in the camper and him and the service manager were both confused when i told them to come on the roof to look at the bubbles. Almost like they had never had to go on a roof with a customer.

Then they're in the wrong business. I'm also talking before the sale. I've watched a dealer's employee take over a 1/2 hr inspecting rigs, including the roof, before signing the bill of lading and releasing the delivery driver.

My 2019 had the same bubbles scarratered around the roof, I took it to the dealer 3 times and they said it was normal. About 6 months after the factory warrantee expired it got worse to the point that most of the roof membrane was ballooning as I traveled down the highway. I took it back in for repair on my extended warrantee. It was denied, roofs are not covered on the extended warrantee. I ended up getting a refund for the useless extended warrantee and spent about $2500 for a new roof material and I replaced the membrane over a weekend. My new roof has been 100% perfect for about 2 years now and no sign of bubbles. Don’t let up, force the dealer to put a new membrane on, it will get worse.

You should not have taken it or signed the papers. But since you did, start the fight for a new roof. Don’t give up until it replaced.
