RV Age Restricted Campgrounds

Happened upon a YouTube video by “Grateful Glamper,” regarding campgrounds having age of rv restrictions of either 10 or 16 years of age, regardless of condition. I have never run into this, but is it a prevalent restriction? Our rig is a 2016 287 BHSW and we’re now looking to go beyond state parks as destinations and am curious how widespread this policy is.
Perhaps this is another example of social media exaggeration to get views?
Thanks,
Steve

It's true, a lot of private campgrounds have this restriction. Most of the ones I've seen have included language like "without prior approval". In those cases, they just ask you to send a cell phone picture (so it has a somewhat reliable timestamp) before they'll approve your reservation.

Read the rules carefully before submitting a reservation and putting down money. Most of the ones I've used recently ask you to sign an acknowledgement during the reservation process. Read it, don't just blindly sign it. If you can't or won't comply with their rules, don't reserve there.

If you have questions about it, just call and ask. Every one of the private CGs I've stayed in the last few years has had very helpful people answer the phone and will answer any/all of your questions. They've all been reasonable too. If they're unreasonable, just find somewhere else.

If in doubt change the aga of your camper to comply. They are trying to keep out trash, I understand that, but if my camper is 11 years old in good condition, and their limit is 10, mine just became 10 years old.

X2, my 2010 thinks it’s only 9 years old now.

I stopped counting my birthdays around 40. I guess campers do it at 10 now.

Careful with this, it could get you turned away at the gate. Granted, if they don't have a REASON to ascertain the true age of your camper, you're probably safe. But it's always a risk.

Sad. Where I am at the moment, an ancient GMC motorhome, similar to the one used by Charles Kuralt for his On the Road series, just pulled in. And it was towing a TOAD! The posh snob RV parks don't know what they're missing.

Can almost guarantee, if it's in good shape, it would be one of the exceptions.

I would hope so. I'm a newbie but there's some really cool and beautiful old stuff out there. Akin to classic cars...

On a recent outing, I watched an old Class C back into the site next to us. It was hand painted and had homade supports between the front fenders and the overhang. I told my wife we were getting the Clampetts for neighbors. They were polite, kind, and well informed RVers. ... did all the things that were required, and didn't have any of the typical annoyances.

If your running a campground, it's difficult to know who's coming in.

When was the last time you had staff come out and look at the camper? Never in my experience
