RV Antifreeze

I do a walk thru in my little Jayco quiet often being it is parked beside the shop and I can't camp now. A couple days ago I noticed the toilet seal had let the antifreeze leak through so I got some plumbers silicone grease and lubed it good. I put some Super Tech RV antifreeze in and left. Today I go check it and it was 32 degrees inside although about 4 outside. Very good insulation I thought so I checked the toilet and there was a skim of ice in there, not solid but very icy. The rest of the bottle stored under the sink was mushy and a full unopened bottle was almost solid ice. I am not worried about freezing because I blow all the lines out with air before I put the antifreeze in. The bottle says protection for -50 below. Just my observations.

It's my understanding from reading various posts, that the RV antifreeze will freeze, but will turn into mush instead of a solid chunk of ice. The mush does not expand as much, thus no damage to the plumbing.

I usually/try to leave a facet open so any pressure build up be released from the slushy AF. Slush is better than solid ice.

Yes, I've heard that antifreeze actually does freeze, it just doesn't expand.

It does freeze, but water is the only substance that expands when frozen.

Are you sure it leaked through? Or did it evaporate? The stuff I use evaporates, and leaves a red film. I now float a little mineral oil on top of the antifreeze, in all my drains. Now in the spring, there is antifreeze above the seal, and in each pee trap.
