On my recent trip from VT to FL, every RV dealer I passed in every state was loaded with them.

Even when I purchased mine, at the height of the so-called shortage, I was able to get a great deal.

Most of this RV shortage nonsense appears to be hype. If you can't get a good deal at your local dealer, don't hesitate to look elsewhere. My local dealer first was unreasonable in pricing until I gave them price quotes from out-of-state dealers. Then the price plummeted and they offered me a great deal beating out the others.

Well, with new cars, the issue is supposed to be that there is a shortage of micro chips needed for the engine computers.

Maybe the same for the A's and C' classes, but that should not affect pull behinds.

Maybe a shortage of labor to build them?

TT Heavy

The large dealer I pass everyday on the interstate has noticeably more units on their lot. Now at very fully capacity. Specifically heavy on TTs and 5r's. They always have the Class A slots filled up front along the roadside as well. This dealer has a second lot 1/4 mile east of the main one and it is beginning to fill with new units too. I'm sure some are waiting delivery but to me doesn't look like a shortage anymore.

it depends on what you are looking for. There are ebbs and flows of stock. I wanted a Class C in the 27' range. I wasn't hard sold on a brand or floor plan per se, but rather meeting my list of needs vs. wants. It took me a few months and I did consider purchasing in another state, when I got the news that what I might be looking for had arrived. The unit was sold before I arrived a couple hours later, but at least I was able to determine it was the one for me and they were getting two more but weren't sure when. I waited a few more weeks for mine to come.

Half way into 2020 they were all empty. They all seem it be full now.

Yes depends on what your looking for. Our Greyhawk was ordered March 1,2021 and is FINALLY ready to be delivered to the dealer. In our area the dealers have a pretty good inventory of towable units, a few Class A’s but very little to no Class C’s. From what we’ve been told, Jayco has deleted some less popular Class C models for 2023 and stopped taking orders for 2022. They have a global backlog 18 million units so they’re motorized division won’t be catching up anytime soon.

Was looking.

Seems I looked forever for a travel trailer and was out of luck for a long time. I finally found one. While I was outfitting for the road my wife had a stroke and now is in an Assisted Living home for forever. Needless to say I have a brand new Heartland North Trail 25LRSS for sale. You can just never tell what is around the next corner.

Last I heard our local motor home dealer was still having trouble getting inventory.
Local Camping world has a huge lot that is filled to the brim with travel trailers and fifth wheels. Have no idea how they will be able to sell most of them.
Have a friend in Atlanta that has a 42' motor home on order who was just informed it will be delayed a few months past his original p/u date.
Not nearly as bad as boats or motors.

Seems like ordering an rv is problematic now. If you can find what you want from existing inventory, you will probably have better luck. Just bought an rv, dealers had decent stock on hand.
Almost every dealer we talked to offered significant discounts from msrp. There are some dealers that are trying to sell the idea that there is a shortage of inventory and won't offer any discount. Go somewhere else, you will find what you want, at a discount.
Another take on the big dealerships having lots full of rv's is that lots of what you see on a lot are units in storage or waiting on repairs.

Snowbirds, there are no words.......

My bride and I are in Orlando on a business trip for her. Today we drove to Tampa to see friends while here, and on I-4 15-20 miles from Tampa we passed some huge RV dealers. A General RV, Lazy days, RV1 dealer, and an Airstream dealer. Their lots were chock full of all types of campers, from the little pop ups to many many large class A's. The general RV site was huge, there had to be hundreds of units of all sizes. There is definitely not a supply shortage in Southwest Florida.

I am in Dallas and they are all full. A year ago today, yes they were empty. Summer 2020 we had a very hard time finding one ( non covid purchase) to replace the one we sold in 5 min.

Same here in central PA. I was blown away how empty it was last year and now it's mostly full.

RV dealers will have a big issue going into 2022 - Covid is winding down, they borrowed future buyers, and the prices are listed much higher than pre-covid while spending power of buyers are lower due to inflation.

I’m still not seeing much in the way of new motorized in NJ/PA.

100% agree.

Also, the dealers will have to contend with all the "like new" units that will be hitting the market when some of the pandemic buyers decide RVing is not for them.

The thing about them having all of those RV's they are not willing to deal I would love on getting a Jayco Pinnacle 32rlt.

Today I passed by the dealer where we bought our 195RB back in 2015. They usually have a pretty good selection of motorized but it looks to be majority towables on the lot as well. Given all the issues getting new trucks I guess it's not surprising.
