RV Direct

Can anyone out there give there two cents on this company? I live in AZ, and can purchase a 26BH for over $3K less than here. Even with the 3,000 mile round trip, I see me at least saving $2,000. I realize buying locally is important, but military pay and three kids only goes so far. Thanks for your input.

When I was buying my 26BH last year, I did some research and found that RVDirect had a very good rep. If you need service, Jayco will smack any dealer who gives you guff for buying elsewhere. I ended up buying local, though, because I traveled a lot for work then, had a new baby at home, and got the local dealer within a grand of RVDirect's price.

Good luck!

Oh, yeah... The price quote from RVD helped get the local guys down. Do separate out things like hitch installation, prep, etc.

Thanks Bruce for the advice. I can't get dealers here to budge. I would love to buy local, but I am not afraid to do a little to save a lot.

A few months ago I asked Jayco Head Office about RV Direct. They said they are a legitimate company.

I am just outside of Toronto and was thinking about going down to their Buffalo location to get one, but the logistics just weren't there. I dont have a truck yet, and the Mrs was a bit leary about bringing it over the border. I bought local and they will deliver it to our campsite.

I would consider that route next time though.

Thumbs up

They worked with me and I was satisfied that they were okay. As it happened, I didn't buy from them. I think I explained my situation on the thread Crabman referenced. Thanks for your service.

I bought my TT through RV Direct and saved 30% off MSRP, my local dealer would not budge. I had to wait about eight weeks for delivery and traveled two hundred miles to pick it up. The local dealer didn't want to perform some warranty work, but a few e-mails to Jayco customer service fixed that. I could not negotiate for hitches and covers.

Party I bought mine from worldwide rv in mesa and right now thry have what you are looking at for 23,450.00 Dont know if that is to high. Another place to look at is Little Dealer Little Prices. in phoenix. You might try RV CITY down by Sierra Vista. The people at World Wide are super nice and we told them what we want as far a interest rate, down payment, payments, etc. We would be walking. later Ernie.

Ernie,
thanks for the information. I went to worldwide, and they were very nice to us. RV Direct beat them by 3K for the same exact unit. I know I will have to go get it, but I was planning a trip back that way in June anyway. I know that doesn't work for all, and I wouldn't make the trip just for the trailer either. I haven't purchased it yet, but we are leaning that way

You know if you are going back there for other reasons not just to pick up the trailer then it might be the best way to do things. Good luck with your decision. Ernie

I used RVDirect and saved thousands over my local Jayco dealer. RVDirect even gave me a great price for my trade in. I ordered my unit on Dec 22, 2009 and it was at their dealership on Feb 16, 2010.

Just a thought and I'm no tax expert, but since the mobile home is considered a second home, would the mileage to pick it up and bring it home be tax deductable???

I used the pricing from RVDirect to get my dealer down below their price so worked for me.

Party, I could be wrong but years ago I thought Az passed something about If a resident of az went out of state and bought something big like a trailer, car truck, etc that when they bring it into the state and try to get tags for it they will be charged a fee. I don't mean to get tags but a fee for going out of state to save money, instead of buying in AZ. Like I said I could be wrong but I have lived here in Az since 1978. Let us know. thanx Ernie

Ernie,
The MVD told me that if I go out of state, there won't be a fine. The catch is with the taxes. If you don't pay the taxes in Iowa (RV Direct location), then you will pay the 6.6% AZ state tax on the amount paid on the invoice. If you paid less than 6.6%, then you would pay AZ the difference up to the AZ tax. If you pay more tax (like CA), than you won't pay, but AZ will not refund you the difference either. The MVD basically told me that the state wants their piece of the pie if they can get it. But, I will let you know when it happens. I plan on purchasing the unit from RV Direct, take the title to our MVD, pay the taxes and plates, bring my registration and AZ plate to pick it up, and go camping. We will see what actually happens when the time comes.
