RV parks

Has anybody encountered any discrimination at parks due to rv type or age ?
I have heard some parks can refuse RVs on these grounds.
Thanks
Ed

Sure. If you travel a lot you will find cg's that limit rigs age and age of customers.

Mostly private cg's.

Many we have seen mention less than 10 years old. That could hurt their business unless they allowed restorations IMO.

If they discriminate against me or my rig, fine.

I hate snobby places anyway.

Those are usually "condo" type where you buy lots, but some make exceptions based on RV condition.

x2. We had a small problem in Cape Cod MA back in the summer of 2006. We had our old Airstream. Nobody said anything about the trailer when we checked in, but someone gave my little girl a hard time at the swimming pool one afternoon. I mean seriously, you don't have the guts to talk to me about your concerns but you have the nerve to hassle a small child.

I have heard that people do this but I have also heard that the Management really looks at it and then makes up their mind. I have seen Motor homes over 20 years old that look better than some of the newer Motor homes. I guess it depends on what kind of mood the Management is in that day.

I haven't personally, but I don't go to exclusive type RV resorts anyway.

However, the KOA Lake Whipplewill at Orlando does have a 10 yr restriction for any RV type that wants to book by the full month, ie snow birders. They do not have a restriction for transients.

There are lots of over 55 (age of people, not campers) campgrounds in the south. We stayed at one this past winter and it was lots of fun because all the activities were geared toward adults.

I have heard of a park that separates campers based on cost of rig (half million and over on one side, under half million on the other) but I don't know if that's true or not. Unless I win the lottery, I will not be in a position to find out.

We stay often in a park for rv's only. No tents or pop ups. They do not have any shower or bathrooms or playgrounds. Only self contained rigs.
It's just their business model.

We've stayed at a few parks that didn't allow RVs that were older than 10 years old. We've never owned an RV that old, so it was never an issue for us. We asked at one of them why they don't allow RVs older than 10 years old and they told us to walk around to where they store RVs in the off season. There were about 1/2 dozen abandoned old RVs that folks brought in for a season, left after the season was over and never returned.

I know there are parks that only allow certain types of RVs, like Class A only Resorts, but we've never stayed anywhere like that. Our seasonal campground does not allow tents. There are 55+ only resorts, but we've never encountered any. We aren't old enough to stay their anyway.
