Okay, after nearly two years of research, planning, and deliberations, we are excited to report that we have selected a plan and a contractor for our new driveway and RV port!
For the new 25'x60' driveway, we are going with a 4" concrete pour with fiber, rebar on 24" centers (tied into the home's slab foundation, and expansion joints every 8'. For the 26'x35' RV port, we are going with a 6" concrete pour with fiber, rebar on 18" centers (tied to the home's slab), and expansion joints every 8'. The retaining walls will be 10"x6" cinder block mortared and capped. The walls will be 140', 6', and 60' (across the front yard). We will likely stain them a muted terracotta. We are scheduled to start in late May.
The 50A, 30A, 20A electrical install will come next summer, and the port cover will have to wait a few years (need to reboot the funds). We took the electrical and the cover out of this phase to make room in the funds for better concrete and wall work.
Thank you to everyone who helped us make a good decision for our home and, actually, our retirement. We plan on staying put and using our home as a base when we retire and start our RV travel bucket list. The Jay Feather will be the port's "break-in" unit to help us refine our set up in the coming years.
