I've been camping for nearly 60 years starting from tents to pop-ups and now with a travel trailer, and I never had an issue other than having someone take my battery box while the trailer was at a storage facility. I had the battery at home, so it wasn't a major issue.

Nothing stolen or damaged while on the road or in a campground. I did have several mishaps while the MH was in public storage. Solved that when I brought it home and parked it next to the garage.

I never had a problem while camping. Unless you count the furry little bandits that frequent many CGs. I lock my truck when in public CGs but have never locked it in a private facility.
We were in a county park in south central WI once where coolers were dumped out at other sites down the road from us. Kids looking for beer no doubt. That's the closest we've come to issues. We've never left coolers outside.

Have been camping since the 1960s in all kinds of private and public parks and have never had a problem. That said, we are more careful than we used to be some years ago. I do believe times have changed and it is prudent to take precautions. If we leave the site for several hours I put away any thing that is of real value. I have read public parks are more susceptible to theft than private parks, namely large national parks. Sam

Did you check his breath or blood alcohol?

Tent camped all over Europe and the US, RV'ing now 12 years with nothing stolen or damaged. I do take the normal precautions of locking the Toad & RV when away, cable on the bikes and so forth but don't worry about chairs, BBQ or fire pit. Most all campers are nice people, its the non-camper that is the occasional problem.

Theft poll
Break in at storage facility. Nothing inside taken. Door lock too easy to pop on this coach.
Batteries outside taken. House not coach.
Added illegal lock to that door. Propane lives in that compartment too.
They came back and got batteries from my whole row of neighbors. Cops say they steal the batteries to use acid to cook meth. WTH ???

Guess I need to add some locks on my Batteries......
Lithium Batteries Added to Crystal Meth to Make it More “Potent”
Almost all crystal meth today is made with lithium batteries. Lithium, a very powerful chemical that is severely toxic and poisonous to the human body, has recently become an almost uniformly present ingredient in today’s meth labs, and is thought by professionals to be included in meth mixtures because it makes crystal meth far more potent, and also far more dangerous.

We've had no problems. However, the storage facility we use has had batteries stolen. They've since added more security cameras, more lights, and a remote controlled gate.
I've contacted "Simply Safe" and asked if they have any RV friendly systems...for example, ones that run on 12volt DC. They never responded, so I guess they answer is no. I have solar panels that make plenty of power even when in storage, so having a 12 volt system that could send me a text, or set off a loud siren is no problem. You would think with RV's being as popular as they are now, the security companies would be marketing products to us...but not that I've found. Missed opportunity if you ask me.

We had some little girls at a Texas state park try continuously to steal my daughter's water toys; however, this was on the day use side of the park and these were not campers.
we put a blockhead lock on the coupler. We do lock our bikes to the trailer tongue at night and while we are gone. We do not bring coolers and chairs in unless we are worried about the weather being a problem.
We have never had anything stolen from our site, but we also don't leave out valuables.

I have found that most of the thievery (is that a word) comes from folks cruising thru the campgrounds, not the campers. Almost all campers are good people. And good looking too! It has happened twice with our group of campers, and it has always been locals.

Thefts
We have never had an issue at a campground. Where we had our trailer almost stolen was in a fenced in, locked and video protected storage facility. We left it there forward week while staying with our daughter.
Yes, the coupler had a lock, 2 in fact. They were removed as if it were child's play.
The only reason it wasn't stolen 8s the stupid theives couldn't work the electric jack as I had a full power cutoff switch, which they didn't understand. They beat the jack, the battery and ripped out the fuse....
I then bought a "Proven Industries" coupler lock. Wow.... Heavy duty. I highly recommend it.
No longer have a trailer, have a Greyhawk.

Well it is way better for them if I am not there. Hidden cameras are the back up.

In 48 years of rv use, never had a problem. However I have had a boat stolen from my boathouse. (Got it back 2 weeks later) point is, the boat was at home in a sling hoist with the power off at the dock. Campgrounds I stay in are safe and more importantly I hardly ever have met someone camping that I have any concern about. Rv folks are usually good people. Imho.

I never had an issue but I also lock things up and don't leave valuables outside. For instance a good cooler is at least a couple hundred bucks. Put it in your tow vehicle or camper when away and overnight.

That only works if you are there to invoke your 2nd amendment.
I voted no issues in the past. This means I'll now have an issue. LOL
In 45yrs of paying insurance for things the only theft claim was a 97 Tahoe stolen from the commuter train lot. I was paid out and it was found 10 months later on a dealer lot. I pay for insurance so I don't have to worry about things like that. I put expensive things away when leaving the campsite but chairs, tables & bbq all sit out, even when boondocking.
