RV show

I'm going to an RV show next week and possibly the one in Hershey, Pa next month. Has anybody purchased a unit at a show? In years past I've attended boat shows and made a purchase at one. I still think I got a good deal. Do Rv dealers offer "Show specials" and are they really specials? That boat I had looked at a month before and he wanted it gone. My main interest in going is I'm looking floor plans and features and quality of different brands. What kind of possible purchase experiences have others had at these shows? I'm not necessarily looking to buy but I also want to be prepared. Will dealers be trying to move 2015's at these shows or are they pushing the newer stuff? Basically what can I expect as I've never been to one of these.

They will push the newest. You can get "deals" on the show models after everyone has walked though and looked and the shows over. Talk to the rep about buying this one after the show and ask about how much off.

I have to disagree with Edd about it being the newest... I have been to both the spring and fall shows in Toronto and the Fall show is heavily populated by "Remaining Inventory". Your area may be different, this is just my local experience... And the Hershey show, I am sure is different, since by most accounts it is "The Show" to go to.

As for deals... I wish I had bought my new C Class when we first saw it at the show... Best estimates... It cost me 20K. Althought the decline in the Canadian Dollar was a significant factor in that.

As mentioned above, the deals @ the Hershey show are the 'Floor Models'. Everyone will be showing their latest so it is mostly new Stock there. 2 years ago one of the manufacturer's sales rep told us that although the deals sound great, the list prices 'could' been marked up first. I found it varied among the Manufacturers & the dealers.

We will be attending the Hershey show but not until Friday so I cannot report until late in the week.

BTW if you go to Hershey, go early, wear good sturdy walking shoes, carry a small camera or smart phone, pen & paper, backpack, water, & be prepared to be overwhelmed by the selection

We bought ours after attending a show here in Maryland. Not the one we looked at though. We ended up buying the 328 RLTS used on their lot. Two other couples were looking at it too. We jumped on it right away. It's in awesome shape and so glad we did.

We bought ours at the Pittsburgh RV show. They are already cheaper than the MSRP of course. We bought it on the last day (discount) and we bought the floor model (another discount) and because it was the floor model we got the entertainment package for free (discount!). We paid about 40% off the MSRP. I would definitely do it again! They were great about filling out the paperwork without even having a deposit (I wanted to sleep on it -- sent a check the next day for the deposit) and we picked it up a few weeks later (it was in January, very snowy, so we were not in a hurry).

Thanks for the Hershey show tips. Not sure if I'm going. I get off the boat in Philly that Wednesday. If I go it will be just for Thursday. Whether or not I go will depend on how hard my 2 week hitch goes. It will also depend on how bad I miss my family as it'll 16 days since I'd seen them. Instead of getting home Wednesday night, it would be Friday evening. But, its HERSHEY, and it coincides with my work travel schedule perfectly.

I retired from Camping World sales a month ago, That being said RV shows in general are a good place to buy. The dealers cost of being there is tremendous, everyone is trying to move inventory. Have an idea of what you are desiring before showing up! There are deals, MSRP mark up are the same as if on there lot. The margins in RV's are huge. Typically 40-45%, the last few days are going to see big markdowns. Last RV show I worked in April I saw the VP of sales mark units down another 5-10% on the last day. not uncommon even at Hershey.

Bought mine at the Pomona RV show in SoCal. Got a great deal. The DW and I were there the first day it opened to ensure that if we saw one we liked and wanted we could make the purchase there.

They locked it up with the understanding that they would supervise people that were sincere in making a purchase.... (Yes, we checked on them so see if in fact they were keeping their promise ).

Saw the 31 ft across from ours but just missed buying that one within 1/2 hr.
