RV show...for fun

We bought our second Jayco a little over a year ago and we are not in the market for another one until I retire in about 10 years. There's an RV show coming to Kansas City this weekend and I tried to convince the DW to go but she doesn't see the need. The last time we went to a show together, it changed her mind completely and she fell in love with the slide concept.

I love to go to the shows to see what new innovations manufacturers have come up with, to see new floor plans and just browse. Does anyone else go to RV shows just for the fun of it?

We just went to the one in Grand Rapids, MI this past weekend to see what was different as compared to our 2016 model. We went just for fun but my wife had a glint in her eye after seeing some of the newer features and roominess that the slide outs provide.

Yup. We have plans on going to a show at MSU in East Lansing this weekend. However, this one we may not be going to. Its 94 miles one way and we are supposed to be getting 4-8" of snow between friday evening and all day saturday.
Normally we hit one every winter and do just what you said, look around and see what's new and innovative. We like our 5th wheel too much, not to mention I just dropped $2k for a drum to disc brake conversion kit for it.

I go to the January Indy RV Show every year but had to skip this year due to work. Lots of fun to see the new stuff but as it stands right now I'm sticking with my '12 Eagle.

Yup. We go just for fun, and to kill a day doing something different. There's a large show in Syracuse, at the state fairgrounds in early March. We'll meet friends that come down from up north, put some miles on our sneakers looking at what's new and different, then we all go out to dinner, and go home. We have no intention to get anything newer or bigger, but I do leave the checkbook at home.

There are two in the Seattle area this and next month and I have gone to them for fun for the last 37 years. Sometimes was to buy a new rig and see what's new.

I am fortunate to know the guy (bought a trailer from his family's RV store in 1983) that puts one of the shows together and he was nice enough one year to let me watch the show get set up. Pretty interesting!

We just attended the Pittsburgh show on Saturday. It is enjoyable just to walk around and see the new features, models, and designs. One of the things that I was surprised with was the number of manufacturers using white cabinetry in their units now.

I go just for fun to the one in Seattle and that’s next month. There’s a brew pub just across the street for a nice lunch and BTW I take Bolt Bus up & back for about $15.00.

We tend to go to the biggest show around this area each year, just to get out.

We're immune to RV shows. We have a 26bh that we're very happy with. Well, after a fair amount of interior mods. We like a simple rig, no slides. There just isn't anything on the market that could possibly interest us.

Ditto for boat shows. We have the sailboat that suits us, and there's nothing on the market that could turn our heads.

There are 2 in the Milwaukee area. One was last weekend downtown, but we've never gone to that one. The other is at the end of Feb. at Wisconsin State Fair Park. Parking is a lot easier.

That said we don't go every year but we often go just to get a taste of summer and look at the new units and new features. We don't suffer from so called "2 footitis" so we are not tempted by anything we see. But it does help us know what's available for the time that we might replace our current unit. We usually go with friends and make an evening of it.

We went to the one in downtown Milwaukee last weekend. No intent of buying, just a winter day out with friends looking forward to spring.

Absolutely. We go every year. It is not just about touring RV's; we often pick up fun accessories at vendor displays and learn about new camping opportunities. We intend to upgrade in about 4-5 years, and we fully intend to buy used (let the original owner get the bugs out). So the units I see this year could quite possibly be the ones we are considering buying in a few years.

I keep a file of the manufacturer brochures with the year marked so I can look back at original specs when shopping used in the future.

I've been to many since purchasing our first rig. DW used to go with me too, but she stopped, and I only went one more year without her.

All the shows we went to simply affirmed our purchase decision. We never saw anything at the shows that we wanted more than what we had.

That being said, I'm a bit of a geek and like looking at the show rigs... Wish I had gotten to go this year. The in-laws went and said it was underwhelming.

I go to RV Shows, Boat Shows and Auto Shows every single year, if for nothing else than to keep a current awareness of what's new and in the market today.

Whenever I buy a new car, because i need one, its just a matter of going to the dealer and listing the options I want and get it on order that very day. Nothing to think about. But then again, cars are something you buy much more frequently than toys, so you really need to know all the specifics ahead of time. I just hate shopping when I need a new car.

For the last 35 years every year at our local boat show I would say that if I found one that was better than the one we have, I'd buy it. Well, there she was and we made the deal without haste. If I hadn't seen it we'd still be sailing in a 35 year old boat.

My Dad did the same thing, though he never did buy a new boat. But of course that's because Mom didn't like boats and wouldn't let him buy one.

Local RV show starts tomorrow, I’m planning to go because it’s really the only opportunity to go walk through all the models available and not have to worry about being pressured to buy, they are really good at letting you browse as much as you like, no entrance fee, free popcorn!

However if you’re interested in buying they have some great deals and are ready to work with you, friendly salesmen, still no pressure and will honor the show prices for several days after the show is over as long as you spoke with them and expressed your interest.

I bought my current trailer at this show 6 years ago, it’s paid for and I have no interest in another payment, so it will be fun just looking. My so always goes with me, it’s kinda our thing to do in the winter.

I'm not currently in the market either. Very happy with our 2016 38FDDS. We still go to the show, putt around look at the new stuff, accessories, etc.. Usually grab a nice dinner while we're in Boston. Same is true for the boat show.. Happy with my current boat but it's fun to see the new models.

Our camping group is getting together this weekend for the Kansas City RV show. After walking the show floor, we're all going to get together for lunch. It's a good way to get together when the weather isn't cooperating for a camping trip.
