Sagging tank

My grey water tank started sagging after a tire separated and severely damaged the compartment next to the tank. I had several wooden cribbing blocks I; thus compartment. I think these blocks were slammed into the tank This caused the internal bracing structure to come loose. This caused the tank to sag. I am having problems with the repair company and insurance adjuster understanding this. They seem to think an external brace should have been supporting the tank. They are also wondering if old age caused this. Well it is a 2006 model but the problem did not happen until the tire came apart and hit it.
Anyone have a problem with old age causing their tank to sag?

Just an opinion.

Tanks fail, straps fail, and related components fail even without being old, but being old significantly adds to the possibility. If both the repair shop and insurance adjuster believe that the tank sagging was unrelated to the tire separation then you will likely just have to accept what they are saying. I would ask about the cost specific to the tank sagging repair as perhaps additional bracing or straps is all that is needed. To do anything else would likely need one (or more) independent inspections by a person that is a professional and can find evidence or proof that the sagging would not have happened if the tire hadn't failed. Even if you have one pro making a statement in your favor, you still have another pro (the repair shop) making a counter statement so even then that likely will not be enough.

My thought, is to determine the repair costs first for the tank sagging and then go from there as the repair cost could be lower than other possibilities such as paying for independent inspections. Keep in mind the repair shop may suggest a new tank and other service, so the cost for that could be much higher than simply reinforcing the straps and the bracing that is already in place. ~CA
