Satellite In?

We have a Pinnacle on order and am wondering if we should add the satellite in option even though we do not plan on using one?

Thoughts?

Allot easier now than later. When I started camping I never heard of taking tv with you. Down the road you might. Areas I go antenna reception is lousey at best. No cable only thing left is satellite, So some where down the line if you need it you'll have it. By the way satellite setup isn't hard

What comes with the sat option? I ordered the "kit" for about $130 a year and a half ago; it was an analog set-up (junk in my opinion). Recently, I had Dish Network installed via my cable / sat input. The tech commented on the cable, saying it was the "good stuff", but, the actual connections were not suited for satellite (they should have a blue in color stem).

What?? Are you saying the connector should be blue, or the coax should be blue? Guess this one went over my head.

I added my own satellite in connector. Cost was $12 and took about 20 minutes on the REQS. It is not often you use both satellite and cable but the option to be able to is nice.

Thanks Corky you just answered my question if we would ever decide on using a dish.

I'm only going by what the sat installer said... Blue connectors - the cable itself was fine. I'll try and post/send a picture of what was installed on my unit. Note: the installation was free, so, it was not a sales gimmick - he told me that the standard connectors (and splitters for that matter) get burned out in a few months of running a sat signal thru them).

According to the Brochure the Satellite option has the following: Satellite kit (includes dish, tripod and a/v cables). That said, and since you don't have any intention of using satellite at the moment, I would skip that option. If my Super Lite is fully equipped to very easily install satellite, there's no reason to believe that the Pinnacle wouldn't be as well. There are far better options for satellite than a dish and tripod anyway. I wouldn't waste your money.

Make sure sat. cables are run to all rooms. Easier to wire interier and ext. are finished.

Thanks for the info on the blue connectors. I googled them. Apparently they have a little better rating than the standard RG6 connector. I wondered because I had never heard of them. I have never had any problems with regular RG6 connectors.

Where did you find the RG6 connector for mounting on the external side of your RV? I plan on running an additional cable into my TT.

Dish Network provided the gear. I'll check the splitter and look for a part number. Plus, it has been raining/snowing here the last few days - I have not been able to post a pic of the blue connector; glad you located it via google...

Called our sales person and he explained that all the Pinnacles are pre-wired for Sat/cable and the option is just as you say...dish, tripod and cables. We don't want/need that option.
