Satellites?

Im looking to get a satellite for my 5'er soon. My book says I have the satellite prep kit. Can someone tell me what the prep kit is all about and what kind/type of satellite I should get and why? I (think) I want the dome type but have heard I might not!

Our sat prep kit included the dish, cable, and compass also. We had to supply the receiver

My prep kit included the dish (non HD), coax and mounting bracket as well as a compass.
I didn't use anything but the coax. I had an HD Slimline dish and just needed the longer coax because I had to mount a long way away to get around a tree.
One thing I did was to contact Jayco direct and they sent me a schematic of the audio/video cables and what runs from each component. This was necessary so I could send my directv signal from the satellite input on the outside of the 5'er up to the front TV as well as the one in the rear. My dealer didn't have this drawing, but Jayco sent it to me via email in .pdf format.

I'm not sure what your kit has. We have a 2010 Melbourne that had hookups, yet not anything specific. We bought a Trac Vision satellite system. This was hooked in with the in dash console which plays the cds/dvds...we also got Direct TV. There is also a hookup inside one of the outside storage areas which connects to cable if desired. The cds/dvds play in surround sound. Satellite plays through the TV speakers front/back....and we had a Wii jack installed to hook that up if remembered. All of this has taken at least 3 rounds of work - doing this or that to figure things out....but I think it's finally all working correctly, and it's a really fun, useful system.
