Schwintek slide question

When my slide goes out or comes in the rubber is squealing, like dragging. This worries me.
I have siliconed all the rubber on outside and inside of slide but it still happens. I can hear it on both sides of the slide. Anybody else have this? How do I resolve this? TIA!

A schwintek will never stop giving you things to worry about. Maybe this will help?

But seriously, look behind the rubber flaps, top and bottom, inside and out, look for bunched up pieces of rubber jamming the works.

Are you sure that's not just the motor noise? They do make a high pitched squeal under normal conditions.

I don't think so, it definitely sounds like rubber dragging on a dry surface. Maybe I'll just silicone the whole side of the slide!

Schwintek recommends Thetford RV slide seal lubricant. It's a foam and sticks well to the seals. Camco has a version just like it. I've used both and they do eliminate the seal squealing.

Put a good coat of wax on the slideout sides. No more squeak on mine.

Look into a Vroom conversion. Expensive but pretty much headache free.

Are you sure the slide mechanism doesn't need to be lubricated? There are a lot of moving parts and it does need to be lubed periodically. There are YouTube videos showing how it needs to be done.

Do you have Vroom? I am thinking of doing the upgrade.

Schwintek slide question

Check out a recent YouTube videos by “My Rv Works” (RV tech in WA, who also posts a ton of helpful step-by-step repair videos). He recently repaired a Lippert/Schwintek bed slide on a Seneca which had completely seized up. He talked about lubrication and I also vaguely recall him also talking about seal maintenance.

https://youtu.be/T-oIlOP_-P0

I only bring it up because I’m still amazed how much noise I’m willing to deal with until I lubricate my slide, and afterwards it’s so quiet and smooth. Also, perhaps the sound isn’t actually the seals, but rather mechanical components asking for lube.

He says he actually likes the slides and usually finds they only tend to have problems when not properly installed and/or maintained.

He also did a Q&A a week or so afterwards where he expounds a little more on the lubrication and what he has found works after years in the field.

My RV works is a great resource for all things RV. The guy breaks things down and explains the why's and how the items work. Shows the Inwall slide in detail including lubrication. Did you lube the bottom roller? Do you have slide toppers make sure that those are lubricated as well.

I can't find where he shows inwall slide in detail or lubrication. Can you point me to it?

See the link below for recommended lubrication from Lippert. I'll look for pnes in MyRVWorks as previously mentioned by RVermont. He goes in to some great detail.

Here is a video from My RV Works were he goes into a great deal of detail on the Schwintek slide and how it works. It will give a good understanding on what needs lubed snd why. Also go to his page snd click on the Playlist and look under Preventative Maintenance and also under Slide out Repairs. All kinds of information there.

I don’t temper the specific point but he has several inwall slide out videos. Two at 40 -50 minutes and these are the ones that he really goes into details.
