Scissor jack stabilizer

I have a 2022 184BS with 4 stabilizer scissors and they are not the best. Can they be taken off and the single bar stabilizers like on motorhomes be put on instead?

Are you talking the vertical shafts? If so, don't recall anyone discussing making that change, so I doubt it is easy.

There are a few things that can really hemp the stabilizers. Place a block under them like a piece of plywood or 2x6. This helps spread the wieght over a larger area, when on a soil pad. Add a few layers of blocking under them to minimize how far they extend. Retighten the stabilizers a few hours I ts after parking, if on soft soil I'll do it every day.

Use something like an x-chock between the axles. Again tighten again after the tires cool down.

I don't recall the name, but there is bar unit you can place between the tt frame and stabilizers. These ate reported to help alot.

Add another set of stabilizers in front of the axles, this helps a lot.

Good luck

The ones you describe on mh’s are not stabilizers, they are levelers and are designed to lift the weight where the scissor jacks are only for stabilizing.

These are what are coming on the newer units. They seem to be much more stable than the original scissor jack type. My photo is of an electric unit. they have manual crank versions, too.

They appear to be straight forward in their install, as long as you h ave the clearance across the bottom of the frame and in height. eTrailer is a good place to start. They have very knowledgeable people to help you choose the parts and with questions.

Just a though. I have a single axel tt also. I was fighting it not be stable ( side to side movement ). I went to long stabilizer jacks. It made a big difference. The longer jacks are not stretched out as far when you lower them. Putting 2x6 boards ( mine are 12 inch’s long ) under them make a big difference also. It took me about 10 or 15 minutes apiece to change, all the holes lined up the same on mine.
